Strengths: Big, bright screen, easy to read in car.
Weaknesses: Occasionally have to reload (turn on/off) to get preset stations.
Summary: I'm surprised just how much I enjoy XM. This is my second receiver and it's the better one. It's safer in the car (when I look down at the screen - very easy to read day and night). Bigger buttons. Lots of available preset buttons.

I also like the base. I tend to bring it inside and it sits nicely near my stereo. I bought a plug (at Biglots) for plugging in the car jack into a standard outlet. I also connected my receiver to it with a cable to the audio jack on back.

It's convenient and enjoyable.

It does occasionally, briefly, lose the signal (which seems to happen both in car and at home). If you turn it on and off, it seems to correct itself.

Strengths: full funcionality, good reception, nicely designed antenna
Weaknesses: dull blue color, less fashionalble fonts, uncomfortable buttons
Summary: This receiver is an excellent choice for those who look for a compact XM receiver with full functionality. It is very easy to setup, and the antenna, which will be installed on top of a vehicle, looks nice enough and very firmly built. Control is quite easy through remote controls. Setups are almost instant, although you'll need some ideas not to make your car as a mess.

Weekness is apparent - design of the display and the control pannel. Controlling through remote control is fine, but if you want to change channels or volumes through the pannel itself, then it's so cumbersome. The font and color(blue) are not so fashionable either.

If you are listening to one channel mainly like me, and don't have intention of boasting nice outfit of your car stereo, you'll like this product.

Strengths: It rocks. The sound quality is really good. It is easy to use, too.
Weaknesses: You have to activate their service, which is not cheap, tho. You have to buy a car hold if you donot have one.
Summary: 2006-03-22 18:06:44 This is a very nice receiver.I like it so much. The receiver gives you the best sound quality .It is easy to use and the user interface is nice. The product has good receptions too much better than my own car-radio.WIth the MIR,I can even get this product for free.Really nice deal.It fits in my car very well.

I can tune about 100 channels in this small single machine! The product looks very cute. But the battery used up so quickly. That's bad.

Summary: A bit smaller than the Delphi Skyfi, which is nice. Convenient docking system allows you to use it in multiple vehicles without disconnecting wires by adding additonal docks. Easy to read display.

Strengths: Perfect sound quality, good built-in FM transmitter
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I am completely happy with XM and this radio. I like the category selection browsing option in addition to the regular station selection menu. The unit is easy to use and the display is easy to read. The built-in FM transmitter is so good I am not going to bother to hardwire attempt to connect it to my 1996 Toyota Camry radio - and I am pretty picky about sound quality. I spent weeks researching all of this and I am very very happy with my two decisions.

Strengths: Compact design, large screen, good sound quality, convient built-in FM transmitter, perfect reception
Weaknesses: Activiation is required, and subscription fee is not cheap.
Summary: Satellite radio is a good choice when you are tired of the local FM channels and your CDs, and this is really a good receiver. It is easy to setup. The included remote control makes controlling very easy. The excellent satellite signal, perfect sound quality, and cheap price make the receiver a good buy.

If you drive a long distance everyday, this receiver really makes you enjoyable during the driving.

Strengths: Nice screen layout Large screen Comes with remote aesthetically attractive
Weaknesses: Buttons can be a little spongy and hard to press if not hit precisely
Summary: Picked this up at the same time as a roady xt so that will be my basis for comparison. Comparing the 2 units, the XR9 is much wider than the xt (about 2 1/2 times).

It gets great reception and the display is easy to read in most conditions. Like any device with a glass display if it is angled poorly it will blind you. The cradle allows for aux inputs (mp3, ipod, etc) and worked well after a minor volume adjustment with an mp3 player.

Sound quality was excellent with the FM modulator, though I had to find the magic fequency. I got a great deal on a wired fm switching box (sat-swb I think) and now I get no outside interference at all.

I had to turn the volume on the XR9 all the way up to keep it on par with the volume of my cd player head-unit.

The mount allows the unit to be swiveled for best viewing but must be glued or screwed into place.

The remote is a good added bonus since I find the buttons a little hard to hit since they are flush to the unit. Most of the time I just use the remote and lean back as I drive.

This unit is worth your time and consideration.

3 Star ReviewAudiovox XR9 XM Satellite Radio Tuner
Strengths: Good reception
Weaknesses: With other new options, this is more complex and unattractive option
Summary: This is nice tuner but as we have new better easy to install better options, I would not recommend this tuner.

Installation needs much efforts and may need lot of tools. I just kept the tuner in tool box of car for some days and used without proper installation.

2 Star ReviewAudiovox XR9 XM Satellite Radio
Strengths: Clear hifi sound and non stop musics
Weaknesses: Expensive monthly subscription fee; non mobile
Summary: Xm Radio is best for cross country or long distance driving since you do not have to lug a bunch of CDs with you. However, since the Audiovox XR9 is not a portable device, you cannot take the XM satellite music with you. As such, unless you do a lot of driving so that you could listen to satellite radio in your car, you need to have another setup for at home use or even better a portable and mobile satellite radio which could be used every where you go.

Strengths: wireless remote control, Built-in FM transmitter
Weaknesses: Need subscription
Summary: Wow, my first XM radio. I like it! It is easy to install, easy to use, portable and has great sound. The only thing that would make it better is free XM radio. However, you still need to subscribe it, otherwise the unit is useless.

Strengths: Large and bright display that is easy to read in the nighttime and daytime. The reception appears to be as good as any of my other XM receivers.
Weaknesses: The remote seems to lack the distance of my MyFi remote.
Summary: I purchased this unit for use in my living room just before Christmas and I have enjoyed it every day since. The large and bright screen runs circles around the MyFi I was using previously in this room. I could never see what I was listening to without getting up and walking over. The screen on this unit leaves no doubt! I've found the reception to be excellent and I've been quite happy with the purchase. My only knock is that the remote doesn't appear to have as much range as the MyFi remote but unless your room is HUGE this shouldn't be a problem.

Strengths: Digital FM transmitter with 14 selectable frequencies Small, low-profile housing Large 5-line LCD with blue backlighting Memory capture function stores 24 favorites Clock, alarm sleep timer
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: The sleek, compact XR9 unit is the smallest satellite radio offered by Audiovox, and it has a fit and finish sure to appeal to a wide audience. Features include a large blue Backlit LCD display, peripherally located controls and a very low profile
