2 Star ReviewSo Close To Good...
Strengths: Slick appearance. Acceptable sound quality. Acceptable image quality. Keeps time when plugged in & firmware is updated.
Weaknesses: Functions don't play nicely together. No slide show when in clock mode. Cannot wake up to an MP3 playlist. Very bright for a alarm clock. Relaxing noises are anything but.
Summary: It's a budget picture frame that can do a couple of other tricks, but it is so close to being so much more. The black glossy frame is attractive, but the lack of any integrated memory or an internal battery means starting over from scratch after every power cycle or power outage. Is the glass half empty or half full? i think half empty, when the slideshow & clock modes can co-exist peacefully, and when you can wake to a preprogrammed playlist, then this device will take a big step forward.

Strengths: Built in backup battery. Pics or vids in clock, radio or viewer mode. Easy to use, bright, clear. Manual or Auto Dim for night. SD/MMC & USB. Dual alarm, gentle wake to radio or MP3.
Weaknesses: None I can think of.
Summary: Are there different versions? Mine were manufactured 10, 2008. None of the things others complained about. Great item, easy to use. Don't think they could improve a thing.

2 Star Reviewthe paris hilton of clock radios
Strengths: sleek design; looks cool; radio tuner works
Weaknesses: looks better on the box than it really is; iPod compatibility; radio tuning speed; picture functions; overall speed
Summary: I first saw this in the store and thought WOW! I got it on sale for $80 (originally $120) and I thought I had a great find. But how wrong I was. The buttons feel like they were made in the 80's, and the up/down and left/right arrows are separated into 2 different keys. That is an annoying design flaw. The resolution is not so good. It did not even recognize my iPod touch when I plugged it in. It did recognize my old 1G ipod mini, but it wouldn't play any of my music, even the stuff w/o DRM. This product clearly was NOT designed with the millions of ipod users in mind. Then I tried to put my photo memory card in. It actually recognized it, and I was able to view photos, but the processor speed is in the molasses-tortoise range. SLOW! And scanning for radio stations was blazing relative to scanning pictures, but still it was energy-draining to find a radio station. And of course these Philips engineers were so brilliant that they did not include any internal memory, so when I found a picture I wanted on the main screen, I can only have it there when my memory card is in. Heaven forbid I want to take it out and USE it to take more pictures. This is the Paris Hilton of clock radios: sleek and sexy, but very little brain capacity. This product needs to go back to R&D for some major tinkering.

Strengths: Lots of features
Weaknesses: Low resolution
Summary: This photo frame is so good it has everything you need. Clock, alarm and sleep functions make it very versatile. Picture quality is not high enough resolution. I love it.

Strengths: Slick design
Weaknesses: Photo section is kind of small
Summary: All on all it's a good product! with a reasonable price. I purchase one for a gift and ending up buying another one for myself. The frame looks good, it comes with everything you need, alarm, MP3, and photo frame.

3 Star ReviewWorth the price.
Strengths: Alarm clock. Charging of iPod with it.
Weaknesses: no mp3 support for alarm. radio not functioning properly.
Summary: This photo frame is so good it has everything you need. The speakers sound great. Resolution is not that great, but then you have to spend more money. It looks perfect for us. A feature that was not listed is you can charge your ipod on it. You just plug in the usb into your ipod and it will charge it will also let you look at the pictures on your ipod.

Philips has recently posted a firmware for this unit to fix day/date sync issue.

Strengths: combo of several devices: clock/alarm, widescreen picture frame, calendar, MP3 player, FM radio. Firmware can be updated by user.
Weaknesses: resolution is ok, but not great. no remote. calendar mode displays a static picture and does not allow for slide show. No AM tuner. Only supports SD/MMC cards.
Summary: This is a very nice device. Although the screen is not the highest resolution out there, the pictures still come out pretty good. The screen is also the widescreen format. It does not have a remote, which is not a big deal, but still lacking compared with many other picture frames.

However, unlike other digital frames, this has more to offer. It also featrues and MP3/video player, FM Tuner, and clock/alarm and calendar. However, it lacks an AM tuner, which most other clock radios have. The screen is a bit bright, but you can set the brightness levels, as well as set u pa scheduled time for it to dim when you sleep, as it can be quite bright in a dark room. This is not a big issue for me, as I am not using it in my bedroom. I have it on my desk in my office, and use it as a clock/calendar, radio, and picture frame.

This brings me to a serious flaw with this device. In clock/calendar mode, is DOES NOT allow for a slide show of your pictures. You can select which picture you want to display, but it will be static. No auto slide show. Hopefully they will issue an updated firmware in the future to add this feature.

This brings up the nice ability to update the firmware, which some other frames do not have. Philips has already issued one update, but if you bought this recently it should already have the update installed.

Another limitation is that it only supports SD/MMC cards. It wont take CompactFlash, SmartMedia, MemoryStick, xD, or other formats. IT does however have a USB port, which allows the use of nto just USB Memory sticks, but also USB devices such as external HD's.

While this device is nice, i think it is overpriced at the usual price of around $100. I would not buy it at that price. I got it on sale for $50. At $50 it is a great value and I would recommend it. $100 is a bit too much for this though.

Strengths: Appearance, Alarm, Video playback
Weaknesses: Resolution, No slide show with clock, No battery back up.
Summary: This is a nice multi-dimensional digital photo frame with a built in FM radio and Alarm clock. The resolution of photos are a bit on the lower side and the pictures appear a bit grainy and less detailed. There is no battery back up. However, if the unit is plugged back within five minutes, it is supposed to retain the settings. It even plays divx and avi movie files through USB drive or SD card. Be sure that the firmware is updated.

3 Star ReviewPhilips Frame Alarm Clock
Strengths: Design, Looks
Weaknesses: No Wake-up Alarm from USB
Summary: This is a very well featured Alarm Clock Digital frame combo. it has a great appeal with 2 functions that go well together. it is stylish and well made. there are a couple glaring mistakes though. one is the day/date error that has been fixed in the latest firmware update, so make sure you do update it if it isnt already. the other is the lack of an option to play your choice of wake-up alarm music from the external USB device. hope they fix that too soon. resolution of the frame is just so-so.

3 Star ReviewNice alarm clock, not digital picture frame
Strengths: various functions and features in all-in-one; good design
Weaknesses: weak resolution, a little bit bulky for display
Summary: I've purchased this model during the Chrimas holiday season and have used for three weeks. It has lots of features not available in other digital picture frame. But its resolution is not good enough as much as dedicated digitial picture frame. If you want a nice alarm clock having digital picture display, you won't be disappointed with it. But if you want to have a quality picture frame, it'll be better to buy a dedicated one.

Strengths: A lot of good features.
Weaknesses: No SD Card, poor software.
Summary: There are a lot of values at its price point. Surprisingly, it has good sound quality and average image quality. It also has many other wonderful features including alarm clock and FM radio. Currently, there is no similar product at its price. The one thing I dislike is its software. Its software has some limitations, such as not been able to play MP3 for alarm clock. Nevertheless, it is a great product to have.

Strengths: stylish, bright, big clock numbers, multifunctional, can play divx movies
Weaknesses: no slideshow in clock mode. do not support my external hard drive, no headphone jack.
Summary: Got it at $50 and i think it is a great deal! it can do a lot of things, alarm clock, picture frame, video and mp3 playback, radio. I set it to run in picture frame mode most of the time. The clock mode is handsome also, only problem is the slideshow does not work in this mode. A big bonus is that it can even play my divx movies! only problem is that it seems not recognize my external hdd and no headphone jack. Sound is loud and clear on this unit though. I like it and it is a beautiful decoration to the room.

Strengths: Nicely made and compact size. Multifunctional for mp3 and Divx playback as well as the FM tuner.
Weaknesses: No slide show when using as clock. The picture is too small when using as clock.
Summary: If you need a FM/Mpd/Video clock, it's the perfect integrated device for you, especially for its price. Very nicely made, and the resolution is as good as a normal 7 inch portable DVD player. The sound effect for mp3 and radio as well as video is fantastic. For the video playback function, I haven't tested it extensively. It showed "GMC video codec not supported" when I played an episode of "family guy" which can be viewed without a problem in my computer.

Auto dim function is good when you need darker room for sleep. Picture showing effect is OK when displaying it full screen, but if you want to use it with the clock function, no go!. It only has less than half size of the screen for the picture in clock mode, and there's no slide show at all when using as a clock.

Strengths: Very nice design; Photo, music, clock, and MP3 in one.
Weaknesses: low resolution.
Summary: This slick looking photo frame is very nice indeed. It has 7" wide screen on piano black front frame. Mine already had the firware update pre-installed, so I had no date error issues. This unit will play photos, MP3, and FM radio only (no AM). It also has built in relaxing melodies to choose from. The only negatives are the following: Slide show is not possible when in "clock" mode. You must manually cycle trough the pictures. The unit has no built in memory back up, so you must reset the clock and date everytime it is unplugged. The resolution is low, but when views form a distance it's not so bad. Overall a nice unit.

Strengths: All-In-One
Weaknesses: Lower resolution than dedicated photo frame
Summary: It's a very nice All-In-One. Alarm, radio, digital photo frame... If you are expecting use it as a photo frame, this is not for you. Other than that, it does a pretty good job. Recommended!
