Strengths: Definately a fast burner as well as a reader. For anyone that has had problems with this cd-rw, try getting your firmwares. This cd-rw burned a full cd within 4 mins!
Weaknesses: I have xp so it may just be that but, the cd always spins down after 2 minutes. I cannot find the config to turn off spin down.
Summary: Definately worth buying. Like I said from above, a fast cd-rw and great ripping speed also. Just make sure you update the firmware once in a while.

Summary: As a reply to the person that posted the Lite-on drive doesn't burn at 24x, did he use 24x rated CDs? Most likley not. Most of the CDs at the stores are typically still 16x rated CDs, not 24x or 32x. That's part of the problem with buying some of the quick drives, if you have a spindle of 100 16x CDs you have to finish them off before you will get the performance that you are promised. As for me, I am getting tremendous speed, I'm using a firewire connection on an older laptop, but Nero still says I'm averaging about 22x CDR time. It's jolly fast, no question.

Strengths: not many coasters burned
Weaknesses: takes 10-12 minutes to burn a full cd
Summary: Burning software claims the burn will take only 3 or 4 minutes, but really takes 10-12 minutes at 24 speed. Used with cdrwin, easycd creator, nero, and clonecd. Results are the same with all software. Same burn time as my 8x burner.

Strengths: In a word: FAST!
Weaknesses: User needs to be weary of current firmware updates. Audio ripping could be faster.
Summary: I did my homework, checked the reviews, did the comparisons and figured this unit may be worth a shot, especially for the money. Wrong. It's worth MORE! Fast, plus their version of "BurnProof" works remarkably well! Not a single "coaster", even while multitasking with other processor-intense apps. Works great under Windows XP, too! Be weary of current updates, though. Firmware is constantly still being updated and Roxio's CD Creator 5 (Platinum) will only work with latest update. If you can get past "Liteon's" attempt to translate directions into English, you're home free! I'd buy another one in a heartbeat!
