Strengths: The scope has the same great features as scopes costing from $500 to $1000, but at a fraction of the cost. An adjustable objective, easy to adjust turrets that can be zeroed, and a mil dot reticle.
Weaknesses: Must use supplied allen wrench to zero windage and elevation dials. Standard focus eyebell with locking ring. Instructions don't tell how to calculate distances with mil dots.
Summary: This is a very nice scope for the price. The adjustment ring adds to the diameter of the 42mm adjustable objective lens, so scope rings that accommodate up to a 42mm objective won't give it enough lift in most cases, so something taller will be needed. The mil dot reticle is installed in the second focal plane, so it remains the same size at different magnifications - meaning this scope must be set at 8x magnification to calculate distance with the mil dots. The zero parallax distance markings on the adjustment ring are in meters instead of yards. They appear etched in green with an unlabeled white line to the left. This white line is the corresponding yard mark - so if you see a green 50, this means 50 meters, and the white line to the left means 50 yards - the instructions don't tell you this. The windage and elevation dials are easy to turn and have a very positive click - they are very nice. They would be much nicer though if you could zero them by simply lifting and turning, as opposed to loosening and tightening set screws.

Strengths: Low cost, nice finish, smooth operation, easy zeroing in.
Weaknesses: Since this is a 42mm objective, in low light it is not as bright as you would like it to be, but for daylight use it is fine for target work.
Summary: In setting it up there are no obvious defects and feels real solid. Image is surprisingly sharp but a little lower in contrast than I would like. However, remember the cost is UNDER $85 so something has to give. For precision work this will suffice. As long as you don't bang the crap out of it, this scope will last just fine.
