Strengths: Prints labels vertically and horizontally. Prints up to 6 lines of text. Auto cutting. Prints bar codes(using PC and included CD)
Weaknesses: Does not come with a power cord.
Summary: I bought the PT-2300 while on a business trip at Staples for $100. I needed to print labels with multiple lines and the PT-2300 was the best machine in stock. It automatically adjusts the font size to fit the number of lines that you choose. It also has an auto cut feature that is very cool. I have not used the bar code software yet, but it looks impressive.
My only beef with Brother is that the PT-2300 does not come with a power cord. It comes with batteries and notes that the power cord is "optional." Imagine being at a convention pulling out your brand new $100 labeling machine and having to worry about whether or not your batteries are going to last long enough to print all of your labels. This "weakness" is the only thing that keeps the PT-2300 from being "one of the best."
It should also be noted that if you are planning to do bar codes, that you will also need to get a USB cable.
The bottom line is that the PT-2300 is an awesome machine wounded by a poor marketing decision to not include a power cord.
