Strengths: Sound quality, 3CCD color capture, Body design, features.
Weaknesses: Low light performance, Touch screen takes getting fast at, nobody at Sony knows more about it than just what the web site tells you.
Summary: I love this camera. Its design is awsome and the number of features it has is going to keep me busy for a while. I'm and audio guy, so this camera is almost perfect for me. The mic and headphone inputs are separate from the AV In/Out. The camera gives you manual control over mic levels and you can choose between 12 and 16 bit audio formats. It features the ability to capture 4 channels of audio using a special microphone designed for the camera. You have to have a Sony Vaio to convert it to 5.1 though. It has a very easy interface and all the automatic controls can be switched to manual. The focus/zoom ring feels nice, video is very colorful and bright in the right lighting, and the digital effects are very professional. The HC1000 uses the infamous touch screen. Yes it can be tedious, but with time you can get really fast at it. Plus its the most interesting part when i show people my camera. I recomend the HC1000 to a serious hobbyist who values sound quality, video quality, and style. The design is beautiful. The balance is a little different however. But overall I'm glad I bought this guy.
