Strengths: A lot of bang for your buck, great value. 5 disc capability, dvd/reciever in one concise unit, Dts & Digital decoders built in.
Weaknesses: sub-woofer lacks punch. It is plenty for a medium sized room or appartment but it doesn't have that "holy S---" sub woofer punch that high end systems have.
Summary: 2002-01-07 10:30:15 Over all it is a great system for the money. Don't pay much more than 400 or your are getting ripped off. The system was very easy to set up. Dvd's sound great with the Dts & Digital decoders and the speakers handle all the seperation clearly & accurately. Music cds soumd good too, I just need to adjust all the settings to my liking...but I anticipate a quality listening experience.

Don't be turned off by the passive sub. It produces a quality, sufficent low for movies & music. It just doesn't call attention to itself and shake your living room. Don't get me wrong, it's there and you will know it when watching a quality action DVD. It is just not always obscenely loud and rumbling all the time.

Over all I feel you can't go wrong for the price. I suggest this system as a good place to start for entering the world of DVD. If you watch a DVD without the DTS & Digital Decoding and a full speaker package then you are only getting half the experience of the DVD. Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Strengths: Good surround sound. More than adequate power for moderate size room. Each channel is adjustable.
Weaknesses: Remote is only for unit.
Summary: Pretty good for the money ($378). 5 disc changer is nice feature. Watching a movie, my wife asked if there was a thunderstorm outside - was the surround back speaker! Now that's an endorsement.

Strengths: Excellent sound-DTS and Dolby 5.1. 5 disc carousel-very convenient w/ its Exchange feature - play discs while swapping out other 4; Speakers-excellent response; Easy set up; remote is great.
Weaknesses: Speaker cable could be longer for satellites; only S-Video and composite outputs - no component output.
Summary: That's basically it.... the component output is what I miss the most. My TV doesn't have it right now, but a new TV could be in store for me, but you know what, S-Vid is good enough.

I didn't really want to spend thousands of dollars on a system with 3 expensive components (receiver and DVD and 5 disc CD player). That's why I picked this system; it's got all that inside.

I like the remote control; it's easy to use. Wish the volume buttons were bigger. But it's light; that's nice.

Speakers deliver excellent response. Great system for an apartment. This system isn't a high end system, it's either for budget minded or for someone who just wants to get it all in one piece. Me, I fit into both categories. I was thrilled to get rid of all the clutter behind the entertainment system after getting rid of 3 pieces of equipment - CD player, DVD, and receiver. It's super easy to set up with color coded ends of the speaker wires. Not that it takes a genius anyways, but it's super easy. I wish the speaker wire would have been a thicker gauge, but I'm not really complaining about that. You can rewire the speakers yourself with a different gauge of wire if you don't like the length of the wires for satellites (6m wasn't enough for me).

Overall, I definately recommend this DVD setup if you want to simplify your home theatre setup.
