Strengths: brightness, contrast ratio, overall cost
Weaknesses: noise, dust buildup, bulb cost
Summary: Overall a wonderful projector for the money. Inputs for DVD, Computer, gamebox, VCR, all at once for no hassle input changes. The picture fills the entire wall of our living room, needed a 10 FOOT wide screen to display the picture. Need to dim lights or use in the dark as the lumens can't compete with full lighting. Cooling fan always runs, even in 'stby' mode, so need to turn the unit switch off if you don't want to hear it all the time. The bulb cartridge collects dust, you can hear it when the fan gets dirty, it must be removed every few months and blown out with an air can. Haven't had to replace a bulb YET, but researching the cost has me concerned. The price ranges from just under 300 to over 400 dollars. Shop around.

2 Star ReviewGreat Picture, Short Bulb Life
Strengths: Great Picture
Weaknesses: Short Bulb Life
Summary: Ran flawlessly for two years, very nice picture, minimal 'rainbow effect'. Bulb died at around 500 hours (only used it for a movie or two each weekend). This is not even close to the supposed average bulb life. (sigh) At $350 for a new bulb, I'll live without one for a while

3 Star ReviewDon\\\'t believe lamp hour life statments from manufacturer
Strengths: Great picture while it lasted
Weaknesses: less than 270 hour life, ceiling mounted as directed by manufacturer. Not .09 cents per hour cost. more like $1.10 per hour. Or $600.00 per year for bulbs.
Summary: I finally got an honest answer about lamp life from a major factory service tech.

"The hours stated for bulb life by the manufacurer (ANY Manufacturer) is from what the manufactuer calls the 50 / 50 test. So if the manufacturer states that the bulb has a 3000 hour life, this means that of the bulbs tested under IDEAL conditions, 50% lasted to 3000 hours with at least 50% of the stated brightness (lumens) when it was manufactured."

This means that if your bulb makes it to 3000 hours your picture is probably degraded by the dim bulb. And the other 50% is dead long before 3000 hours.

3 Star ReviewGet the warranty..
Strengths: Good Picture, Low Coast
Weaknesses: Fails Alot, Gets Very Hot, Loud Fans, Major Dust Build Ups
Summary: I've had this unit for two years now. I love the unit! It has a great picture, handles computer, 360, and dvds without a problem and with great results. However, the units color wheel exploded about 1 year in. Manufacturer took 3 weeks to tell me they didnt have the parts and sent a refurb. Another year later, the unit goes out again. This time assuming its the lamp. Final verdict: Get the warranty! Purchased from Circuit City and their warranty INCLUDES replacement lamps at NO CHARGE (outside the coast of the warranty, which is less than the price of a lamp). 10business days and we'll see if its the lamp or not..

2 Star ReviewGreat Projector, Terrible Bulb Life and Value
Strengths: excellent low-end projector, lamp assembly on the low-to-mid price range, good support from in-focus
Weaknesses: lamp assembly lasted 115 hours over just 95 days before partially rupturing (leaving fixed distortion on screen)
Summary: I have had this projector for almost 2 years and my first lamp assembly lasted me for 20 months with average use (less than 1000 hours on first lamp assembly). Provantage has the BEST price on this lamp assembly, but the one I just bought only lasted 115 hours. Instead of buying another lamp assembly for my InFocus 4805, I bought the InFocus IN72 for not much more and it is beautiful. Now I got this extra 4805 just lying around...

2 Star ReviewDead after 9 months
Strengths: Great while it lasted
Weaknesses: Early failure
Summary: When we got the projector, it worked great. We used it occasionally for 9 months, then it failed. The replacement bulb is almost as expensive as a new projector.
