Strengths: -light and portable -holds enough music so you never get bored (like CD's). About 6-7 hours -nice display: easy to read, good blue back-light when in dark -sounds great with customizeable EQ
Weaknesses: -earphones didn't fit very well (bought Sony earbuds) -no arm strap or belt clip, just a neck strap -lack of detail in installation instructions
Summary: Overall, a really good MP3 player. If you don't need days of music like the iPod offers, and just want something light you can take to the gym, then this is a great buy. Make sure you create a folder on the flash drive, and then add music to the folder; if you don't, you won't be able to hold more then 70 songs or so.

Strengths: Compact size, battery life, sound quality, simple setup.
Weaknesses: Controls a little tricky for large hands.
Summary: One of the best flash memory players available. Tiny size, great sound, amazingly easy setup, and good battery life. What's not to like?

A tip: If you have Media Player or some other way to rip CDs, ignore the instructions to install the software supplied with the unit. You can just plug it into a USB port, and Windows will recognize it as a removable drive. Then just drag and drop music into it with Windows Explorer. You'll be set up and listening to music within five minutes of opening the package.

1 Star ReviewI've had mine for just over four months and the he ...
Strengths: It is small & not horribly expensive
Weaknesses: It is not horribly expensive and it shows in the construction
Summary: 2005-03-25 08:36:23 I've had mine for just over four months and the headset input socket has broken. While it will still securely hold the headset jack, it allows the jack to wiggle within the socket and causes volume spikes to occur. The volume is either very soft or excruciatingly loud. Guess we now know why Creative offers a 3 month warranty.

And for the obligatory comment, the earphones that come with the unit are just lousy. They do not fit and their sound quality is lacking.

Strengths: easy to use compact size flash drive
Weaknesses: would like more memory
Summary: I purchased this player for my friend ...she is not very mechanical or computer literate...I felt she would be able to use this player without too much help from me....I did not realize that she did not want to do any work at all....she just wanted to put on her ear phones, turn on the player and listen...sooooo it became my job to load, delete, put in the battery, and totally setup her player...If I could re-think this purchase I would have bought more memory thereby avoiding having to take the mp3 player back everytime she decided she wanted a different song loaded....it is a very easy player to use but the person using it has to be willing to spend some amount of time loading it and choosing the songs to load...what I wound up doing is loading her player with my songs..I hope she will eventually be comfortable enough to do this by herself thereby avoiding long phone calls explaining what she should do....

Strengths: *Flash Storage* (I bought a new player b/c my Rio hard drive-based one stopped fully functioning after 1 year of ownership, even though it's only had minor drops, nothing out of the ordinary)
Weaknesses: *if* you want something for long trips or frequent travelling, I would recommend something with more storage capacity. 512MB (~100+ songs) is a great size for 1-2 hr gym work-outs.
Summary: I gave the MuVo 4 stars w/ one stipulation - I rated it in comparison to other MP3 players in its price range. It's the only (relatively) inexpensive flash-memory-based player with an adequate storage capacity (but see Weaknesses above). For the price, it's a good deal. If I had someone else's money to spend, I would have gone for something closer to $200, but oh well :)

Physically, the packaging/buttons do feel somewhat flimsy, but I think I'll get used to them. It could be just b/c the whole player is so lightweight? The LCD screen is very nice and bright and easy to read. Also, the way the buttons are set up is much better than my Rio's was. Here the Play/Pause button is separate from the skip-ahead/go-back button, but in other players all those actions are accomplished by toggling 1 button 4 different ways. Very easy to screw up, especially while you're working out!

The way the player's menus are set up is also very logical & easy to navigate - again, unlike my Rio's was. Good software design to hard to find, so I appreciate it when I can.

In summary: $100 more could probably buy more solid packaging & more memory, but this player is fully capable of doing the basics.

3 Star ReviewCompact piece but it's plastic casing seems flimsy ...
Strengths: Light, scrollable, no need for extra software to manage it; can just drag and drop files within Windows schema
Weaknesses: Battery seems to drain fast; standard earphones not so good; doesn't come with an arm band even though some websites tout it as a heavy duty runner's piece
Summary: Compact piece but it's plastic casing seems flimsy. Like the USB 2.0 capability and the ease of drag and drop within Windows without having to use Creative's music managing software.

I previously used Digital Way's MPIO and the software NEVER worked. I'm glad for this functionality in Creative's product line.
