Strengths: excellent Fast 7X lens,Excellent manual zoom, real image viewfinder-you see what you photograph
Weaknesses: Eats Batteries
Summary: I would recommend this camera because it comes with all the features even a pro would want and has the best lens of any of the digital cameras. And a reasonable price.

Strengths: feels like an SLR but better, it will take a picture that film cannot, a wide range of contrast in one shot. corrections later on the PC are easy. Lots of functional bells and whistles.
Weaknesses: The image viewing and editing program leaves alot to be desired.view finder image not good. No sound in video.
Summary: I love it! I have been taking photos for 32 yrs and am thrilled by the range of abilities, haven't found the limits yet. I solved the battery problem with 3 sets of NiMH batteries and a charger, I take plenty of pictures. 8X10 enlargements look good.

Strengths: Awesome manual control. Very well optimised programs - works really well in auto-mode. With a 20x flash card transfer times are not a problem. Great optical system.
Weaknesses: Requires several sets of good batteries (one set/100 photos). Buy some 2000 mAh NiMH. Also, it's not possible (I don't know ?) to set it to flash for better night focus.
Summary: This is one of the best digital cameras I've ever seen and competes with cameras valued double its price. The optical system is very good (less distortion than good 35mm couterparts), the CCD is very sensitive (less noise), it lets one do everything manually. Its affordable price makes it a very recommended choice for everyone interested in photography.

When you buy it, also consider the following items: additional set(s) of batteries (contrary to advertisements, my camera came with a set of good quality rechargeable batteries and a recharger),256MB 20x Flash card, UV filter (mostly to keep your lens clean), carrying case.

Remember to read about the RAW file format - it can be a bit more difficult to handle, but the results can be very rewarding.

Also search the web for compatibility issues with Flash cards !! (or don't buy no-names)

Strengths: I dont think so!
Weaknesses: I didn't have any problems YET
Summary: The only thing that's really messing is the microfone...

Wideo with out song , its unuseable, beliveme.

Also the memory that comes with it... IT'S not memory at all.

Strengths: I bought the camera for its SLR-like design and versatility, and it has delivered on those fronts. I considered the AAA batteries to be a plus because they are inexpensive.
Weaknesses: The EVF, hard to use for manual focusing, but does let you frame precisely. Durability, service & support (see below).
Summary: The zoom ring on the lens worked loose inside 6 months. I brought it to an authorized Minolta repair place in Oslo, they sent it to Minolta. When I got it back the lens seemed OK but now the camera will not focus properly in either auto or manual mode. It is _useless_. I have written to Minolta to see what they want to do about it, but right now I am an extremely unhappy customer, and I have to give it a two star rating.

Strengths: Superb pictures, no developing costs or delays! Optical zoom is beyond known superlatives
Weaknesses: None that can't be reasonably accomodated - get two sets of lithium batteries with a rapid charger
Summary: I am having a blast with my first digital camera. Why did I ever wait this long? Just get one now and enjoy the ride.
