Strengths: Low entry price, great low end, ease of setup.
Weaknesses: Could use a headphone jack....
Summary: I've got my eye on a high-end 2.1 setup, but until I can find the funds I had to have something to listen to. So I bought this Altec setup and was pleasantly surprised. These speakers are so good that I might not even have to pump the big bucks into the high-end setup! They are quite easy to set up. I like that Altec gives you generous long leads on the sub and satellites. You plug the sats into the sub and there's one connection to the audio output. Plug in the wall-wart transformer and you're all set. I like, too, that the sub has a level control of its own. You can add or subtract from the bass level to your liking. One of the sats has an overall volume control and the on/off switch. They sounds really good. Very clear for their price and the bass is not muddy, as it is in some other low-end systems. The sats are small, so you can place them just about anywhere. Overall, I am very pleased with this speaker set.
