Strengths: Plays everything I have thrown at it. Video and audio quality are great. Has all the features I was looking for to play MP3 music.
Weaknesses: Like most, dependent on the remote. TV onscreen feature for MP3 tags is limited in text characters so don't always see the full name of the song. The shuffle/random feature is not intuitive.
Summary: Overall, great machine. I have not felt compelled to write a review before, but this is a great product. As a basic DVD player, it is top notch, playing dirty/scratched DVDs from Blockbuster to personal DVDs burned on DVD-R, DVD+R, and DVD+/-RW. However, I was mainly looking for a DVD player that had better MP3 options; specifically, a shuffle/random feature. I like to burn an MP3 CD with about 150 of my favorites, hit random, and let it play. This player does that. It even shows the tag info on the small lcd window and the tv. Surprising though, was when I threw a DVD with MP3 music on it, it read that as well. I am sure there is a limit to how many songs can be on it, but I don't have that many favorites. To play in random is not intuitive as you must hit the "repeat" button on the remote 3 times to put it in "shuffle" mode, which does display on the lcd screen. I give my recommendation and praise for this DVD player.
