Panasonic DVD-RP56

I've had this DVD player for about 3 years now and ...

Strengths: Great video quality, looks great, hi-speed scanning and plays numerous media types.

Weaknesses: Can't think of any.

Summary: I've had this DVD player for about 3 years now and not one time did it give me any problems. Luck or just the way you take care of your components... I don't know.

What made me write this review though is because I just found out that it plays DVD+R/RW media flawlessly. I have recorded some home videos on DVD and all of them played flawlessly. I can also say the same thing with my back-up DVDs! Just a great player considering it's age.

One of this unit's greatest strenght is its great picture-quality playback. Skin tones are just perfect and colors are just right with it's progressive scanning technology. It looks stunning on my 55" Mitsubishi HDTV. I couldn't be any happier. I can go on and on talking about this player's features and how much I like them but I guess bottom line is that you won't regret the quality you get from this DVD player.

If I new what I know now about SVCD I would shop a ...

Strengths: Excellent picture and sound qualities. Logical remote. Plays VCD and XVCD up to 2500bps

Weaknesses: Does not play SVCD

Summary: If I new what I know now about SVCD I would shop around more. While it does a fine job playing DVD, MP3, VCD and XVCD, the up and coming format is SVCD. This is the only waakness. If you do not care about SVCD check this one out.

I was very satisified with this product, but just ...

Strengths: NA

Weaknesses: I also keep getting a H03 error message.

Summary: I was very satisified with this product, but just recently got this stupid error message H03... don't know what it means and I cannot get my dvd out of the player. I'm extremely pissed off as it is 3 months out of warranty. Piece of sh*t.

I loved this dvd player when I first had bought it ...

Strengths: Works great and has excellent picture for the first 12.5 months.

Weaknesses: Breaks down and gives me HO3 error message that I can't get fixed

Summary: I loved this dvd player when I first had bought it but then it just broke down and stopped doing anything so I lost a dvd in it. Also at the end of many vcd's it skips. Overall I am very dissatisfied. I would not touch this product at all.
