Strengths: This unit has great set up features and has an awsome picture.
Weaknesses: None worth noting, at least at this time.
Summary: This unit replaced my Pioneer Elite unit that I purchased a year or so ago. I was at a video training class and one of the instructors kept referring to this particular Panasonic unit and how great it was. Since I just purchased a Panasonic HD plasma set I figured I would give it a try. It blew my socks off and also blew off my Pioneer DVD completely. These units can be found for $400 delivered which was less than half the cost of my Pioneer unit. I'm sold!!!!!!!!!

Strengths: This DVD player is great. The picture and sound quality is excellent. The setup is made more towards the audio and video connoisseur.
Weaknesses: the icons can be alittle confusing but you can get use to it just like any other video player
Summary: I would definitely but this unit. this unit is built solid not like others. Most other DVD players weigh almost nothing. The panasonic rp91k is a heavier unit and a solid playing unit. Picture is extremely clear. The remote unit uses a joystick, which helps move on screen options much easier than most.I have done research on DVD players, and for the price and quality. I found that this one was it.

3 Star ReviewBad remote control joystick design; up, down, left ...
Strengths: NA
Weaknesses: Poor remote control joystick, confusing manual, bad icon's
Summary: Bad remote control joystick design; up, down, left, right, and enter are not easy to select. I selected one, and I ended up with something else. The manual is badly written. It could have been written so that all the information related to the particular function is in one place; even though the information may have to be repeated elsewhere in the manual. Functions and features are intertwine to each other. If you select a, then you have to go to some other pages to turn off b and c. Some of these could have been automated. I still do not know how to make the 5.1 analog output to work yet. I only have the front channels. I just need to decode the manual and set the functions correctly. I do not like the Icon's. They are small and too many of them. They could have been bigger and text next to them. I have to select the ICON in order to know what it is. Panasonic could learn a few thing from Sony Icons and joystick design.

I did not A/B compare it to other units so I can not comment on the picture and sound. The picture looks good and the sound is fine to me.
