2 Star ReviewNice player with lots of features but UNRELIABLE. ...
Strengths: Accepts additional memory cards (up to 512MB), USB 2.0, no special software required to transfer files, includes many accessories.
Weaknesses: Has design errors resulting in following: 1. Drains buttery even when it turned off. If you put a new battery in the evening and turned the player off, next morning it will be completely drained.
Summary: Nice player with lots of features but UNRELIABLE. GoVideo designers should continue to work on:

1. Uncontrollable high power consumption. GoVideo claims that one battery will last up to 16 hours but I got 7 hours from the fresh Duracell. It drains buttery even when it turned off. If you put a new battery in the evening and turned the player off, next morning it will be completely drained.

2. Player does not power on sometimes. To power it on, user have to remove and reinsert the battery. GoVideo is aware about this problem and recommends removing and reinserting battery to solve it. I am surprised to see how this player was shipped to stores without a good test. It very annoying to open and close the cover (to reinsert the battery) every second time user wants to turn it on.

1 Star ReviewDoesn't power on sometimes, you have to remove and ...
Strengths: Cheap, small, max 768MB memory, voice recorder
Weaknesses: Buggy firmware, has upper limit on number of files stored internally
Summary: Doesn't power on sometimes, you have to remove and reinsert the battery. I downloaded 160 MP3s to it, but the player lists only the first 117. Tech support is clueless, suggested that I remove the battery, wait at least 2 minutes, and then reinsert it. Obviously, it didn't work, since the problem is their buggy firmware. GoVideo hasn't released yet any firmware update, and it doesn't seem like they're planning to, either. STAY AWAY.

1 Star ReviewCompletely Unsatisfied
Strengths: Decent player.
Weaknesses: Firmware issues, buggy power, terrible tech support.
Summary: This product was my first MP3 player, and I had quite a bit of fun with it for a while. However, I too experienced the “buggy battery” issues that other users had had, but carried on with the player.

The problem came when I went to update the firmware. Something went awry, and it completely fried the player. When I tried to contact the company, I sent a detailed e-mail describing exactly what was wrong and how it happened. In response, I get a computer generated auto-reply.

I purchased the product, and expect a real person to deal with my problems not an auto-reply. Fortunately for me, the store where I purchased the player was willing to work with me, which I more than I can say for GoVideo. I would never recommend purchasing from any company that first fries the product with poorly designed software, then is unwilling to deal with the problem.

3 Star Reviewthere has been a few websites that have said if yo ...
Strengths: small, sharp display, light, sd memory expansion slot up to 512MB, voice recorder, tunner and tunner recorder, drag and drop music.
Weaknesses: buttons feel a bit cheap. does not sort songs by artist but by name.
Summary: there has been a few websites that have said if you leave the battery in ovewr night it will die, this is not true unless you leave it on overnight, also people have said some times you have to take the battery out to turn it back on... not true. this device is a very good mp3 player the only thing i dont like is that with 256mb you can only hold about 50 songs. the last one i hade was a 256mb and it held about 150 songs and had slightly better buttons but no tunner no voice recorder and no expandible memory. (sony network walkman 256 mb)

Strengths: Cheap, simply operation, reasonably clear screen.
Weaknesses: A bit slow to re-index files on power-on
Summary: As mentioned in some reviews elsewhere, it will accept a 1gb flash card (possibly more?) if patched with one of the reacent firmware patches. I used a SanDisk 1gb, I have no idea if other brands or sizes larger than this work.

It seems to have wierd FM radio system, but I can't see the point in FM on such a little thing, unless listening to VERY close local stations.

All in all, an affordable player, reasonable space for the price, and expandable with MUCH larger memory sticks that are getting more and more affordable every day.
