Strengths: Easy to set up
Weaknesses: Too much needless software installed
Summary: My desktop's mother board blew so I decided to buy a laptop for home use. I surf the internet, listen/download music and send emails. I was looking for economical and functional. I brought this home and was able to set it up with no problem. I was able to convert Windows XP software to Vista with ease. I put in the disk and it directed me on exactly what to do to convert to Vista. So far so good. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a quality cost efficient laptop.

Strengths: Great notebook once you get rid of the bloatware (trial versions of software).
Weaknesses: Both RAM slots occupied (512MB X2) making it more expensive to upgrade RAM to 2GBs. Toshiba doesn't support XP.
Summary: I bought this to replace a 2 year old notebook (not a Toshiba) that was having problems. This little beauty cost half as much and is a much better notebook. Technology marches on. While this notebook was ready to go right out of the box (in fact, some of the included software is very nice and easy to use - Toshiba Disc Creator, Ulead DVD Movie Factory, etc.), I took a few minutes to uninstall the bloatware and replaced the 2 X 512MB RAM with 2 X 1GB of RAM. FWIW, RAM replacement is easy to do, both sticks are readily accessable underneath a panel on the bottom - remove two screws and pry the panel up gently.

Now I have a very nice and fast notebook. Though I am making peace with Vista, I really would prefer to be using XP. Toshiba doesn't support XP for the A135-S4677, a shame.

A pleasant surprise - the media card reader supports SDHC.

If you are considering this the A135-S4677, go ahead and buy. This is a very solid and functional notebook for the price.
