Strengths: Great sound. Great subwoofer.
Weaknesses: System shuts off when watching TVlistening to radio. When restarted, turns off after progressively shorter times. Denon's help-line told me to get in touch with the store where I bought it.
Summary: 2005-07-06 13:58:41 Great sound and subwoofer. However, I had to send my system back because it turns itself off when I am listening to the radio. According to the person I spoke to at the store before mailing it back, they have had this problem several times before. Am eagerly awaiting a new, hopefully working system!

Strengths: Possesses wonderful sound for small system. Compact design. Superb subwoofer that has a classic look.
Weaknesses: A bit pricey.
Summary: This system produces better "surround" sound with two speakers and a subwoofer than my previous 7 speaker system. Sound reflects very well after one places the speakers and programs in distances in order to get optimum sound. You can install an amplifier if you want more speakers. The manual (more than 100 pages) goes into great detail about how to set-up a system to conform to each user's needs. CDs sound crisp and clear. DVDs can be played using RCA, S-Video or Component inputs on the back of the system. Provides superb video input using the Component inputs or S-Video. Can't remark about RCA connections. The receiver functions properly as an FM receiver. Outside inputs function well. The adjustable subwoofer looks very stylish and doesn't need to be hidden. This was my first Denon unit, but it definitely will not be my last.

Strengths: Great Sound. Compact.
Weaknesses: Manual is long. Have to have a little bit of tech knowledge to figure out how to get the system to sound the way you want it sound, and perform the way you want it to perform.
Summary: I had to bring my receiver to the store from which I purchased for repair to the DVD/CD. It was making a rattling sound, freezing and locking up at random. I was informed by the Sears repair center yesterday that the part is not available. Luckily I purchased an extended warranty, and they will have to replace the system. But with what? They do not handle Denon any longer. I love the system, except for the technical problem. Have to find out where to turn now.
