Strengths: Small, but not too small. Excellent outdoor clarity on motion images. Outdoor stills within 10 feet are great.
Weaknesses: Grainy image under medium-lit indoor scenes. Okay color reproduction, not great.
Summary: I am an independent filmmaker who needed something easy to carry. I use a Canon GL-1 for my serious camera shots and low lit situations, but I bought the 75U because I really like the vertical cam style. It's easy to handle and easy to hold steady. This camera has LOTS of features, but I do most of my effects and fades etc. with Adobe Premiere. However, the still camera is decent. If you need something to just get a quick shot, it will do. The image cannot be blown up too large or it will become grainy, but a 5 x 7 doesn't look too bad. My biggest complaint about this camera is (and it's like this with all 1 CCD cameras) that skin tones are not represented well. The camera also gets VERY grainy when shot indoors. I've done a couple of comparisons with the GL-1 and this camera in an outdoor setting, and even though the GL-1 is $2,000, this camera can hold it's own OUTDOORS! Under flouescent lights, however, there is no comparison, the 75u is below average. So, I would recommend this camera to anyone who plans on filming family vacations, outdoor stuff, or taking outdoor well-lit pictures. If you will be filming indoors under mediocre lighting conditions I would not recommend this camera.
