3 Star ReviewAsus Radeon HD2600XT video card
Strengths: Low price, supporting HD
Weaknesses: Fan noise
Summary: This card is kind of old, but the performance is still not bad for general use. HD is supported, and directx 10 is supported too. That is enough for me. Considering the low price of the card, it is not a bad choice. Just the fan noise is kind of high sometimes.

Strengths: Good performance, quiet fan, not expensive
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: This is a nice card from Asus. The fan on the card is pretty strong, and the temperature of the card is not high. It is an old generation card, but it is enough for daily uses. The card supports directx 10, and the performance is pretty good on my PC. The video through the card is vivid and smooth.

Strengths: quiet cheap
Weaknesses: card is pretty big
Summary: It's an old card. It's not really meant for the latest and greatest in gaming, but serves well for a htpc. The card is quiet, but big. It'll probably take up two slots.

Strengths: Nice cooling solution, small card, low power requirements, audio through hdmi
Weaknesses: few generations old now
Summary: "several new features like DirectX 10 support and the wonderful UVD high-definition video decode acceleration. Unlike NVIDIA's GeForce 8 Series, AMD gives you the whole multimedia package which consists of HDMI + Audio + HDCP.

gaming performance of the HD 2600 XT is generally a bit slower than the GeForce 8600 GTS, the price is lower as well. If you have a CrossFire capable motherboard you may run two HD 2600 XT cards in CrossFire, which should give you a healthy performance boost for a low price"

Strengths: Cheap with HD support
Weaknesses: fan noise
Summary: The Asus HD2600XT is a great choice for playing hd movies. The built quality from Asus is excellent with very low price (much cheaper than 8600GT). The fan has some noice under load but it is acceptable. It would be great if the card includes DVI to HDMI adapter.

Strengths: QUIET, dual video outputs
Weaknesses: seems to be running all the time
Summary: I love this card. It replaced a 7600GT that was a screamer with the cooling fan. Now I don't even hear the 2600XT. The fan is a strange design but inside the box it's out of sight and who cares. The fan seems to be doing it's job.

The card came with software utilities for monitoring temperature and lets you tweak the overclocking. I have not touched that. But it is nice to have in case I ever get into that camp.

There is one software utility that says it optimizes video/movie playback. I had to disable this feature as all I was getting was non watchable video, whenever I put in a DVD movie. Later I read that this video enhancement works only with certain monitor resolutions (non which I have configured).

I still have not figured out if the card is running all the time due to some software setting, or if it can control fan speec. I'm comparing its operation with the nVidia 7600GT that it replaced and the 7600GT did slow down when the computer was idle. This one never seems to idle when the PC is idle.
