Strengths: LG quality and value, software package, comprehensive manual.
Weaknesses: No headphone jack. Not a problem for me but some may find it to be.
Summary: The manual is well written with good installation and media compatibility tables. It would be nice if they included a toll free support # though.

The burner works flawlessly on both cd and DVD disks. I haven't had a chance to burn DVD+R Double layer disks due to the high cost of the media.

The included software adds further value. I only installed CyberLink's PowerDVD which provides good picture quality and features. The others include a DVD production application (quite nice for a relatively simple program), Nero Express and InCD. Overall a very good software package that very much adds to this already value priced product.

Strengths: Compatability across all current formats including DVD-RAM.
Weaknesses: DVD-RAM writing as expected is slow.
Summary: I purchased this drive to replace my old Panasonic LF-D311G DVD-R/DVD-RAM drive. I wanted to stay with a drive that could write to DVD-RAM. Though slow, DVD-RAM for me is a convient and economical back-up medium.The best part of owning this drive is the multi-format compatability.

Strengths: Exellent compatibility with all formats
Weaknesses: Just don`t try to use chip media with this unit or you will get read error from the created disk, especialy with DVDs
Summary: I first tried the unit with some Princo DVD-R 4x and the unit burned the disk with no problem, but when I tried to copy the media content to other PC I recieved ciclic redundance error with all the created DVDs, so I start to burn with others DVDs from manufacturers like TDK and everything goes fine.
