2 Star ReviewEconomy Adequate for Dress or Sports
Strengths: Retro "Euro" shape. Black display. Reasonably priced and attractive all-around watch for those of us who do not need to feel good about ourselves through flaunting expensive stuff.
Weaknesses: Clasp stainless steel bracelet ill-fitting. Small second hand (the prominent stopwatch second hand does NOT function as the time-keeping second hand). Weak volume alarm.
Summary: 2005-11-29 16:22:10 Because I wanted a little more than a Timex Indiglo, and I understand that Pulsar and Seiko are quite comparable, I bought this watch on a one-day dot com special for $37, which included "free" shipping. I figured that for money I'd spend on such a non-necessity (for me) the 80% off of MSRP (full retail $185 ... most priced at $111 plus shipping ... lowest price I could find at the time on the exact same watch on ebay, etc. was around $75-80), it would be a good buy. The watch was delivered promptly seven days after I placed the order.

Remember, you get what you pay for. I'm satisfied, and I will wear this watch and keep it among the few that I have and choose to wear depending on dress or occasion.

I like the black display. I prefer arabic numerals ... although only the "2-4-8&10" are on the busy display. This will look good when dressed in dark suits, white-cuffed shirts, black dress or casual shirts, and casual clothing, short-sleeved and long-sleeved as well. Versatility is the best attribute. The style and shape may be attractive to those who prefer understatement. I like this watch's looks.

I think that it's silly that the larger sweeping second hand (which looks great) operates as NOT the main second hand, but is the stopwatch and one-fifth of a second hand. It will work that way, but only for 12 hours. That is, unless, I'm mis-reading the directions, which is a distinct possibility.

I did not buy this watch for its ability to measure and compare the times of two competitors. But, I did think that it might double as a travel alarm. The alarm will not be loud enough for me to wake up, even if it remains on my wrist. And frankly, with the sound of an engine or a crowd of people or something of that sort, I would NEVER be able to hear the alarm tone ... even though it continues for twenty seconds.

To do the sizing of the bracelet for my wrist properly, my local jeweler gladly worked with me for a $5 fee, but the double-button release clasp bracelet provided with the watch, although attractive, does not fit my wrist without sliding ... a tad too loose. Link pins simple to remove and replace without fancy tools. We tried it with one more link out, and it was TOO tight, pinching tight, skin-marking tight. A better clasp would have more adjustment points so that finer adjustments could be made as temperature or personal physical conditions change. I don't think a watch bracelet of any sort should depend on whether you are perspiring or not to stay in place on my wrist.

Hey, buddy, wanna buy a watch?
