Strengths: Great Instructions, well designed, Stand was easy to set up, on screen menu user friendly.
Weaknesses: Remote seems kinda small and doesn't have alot of buttons. USB jack is hard to plug anything in and out of especially when doing updates to the tv with a thumb drive.
Summary: I love the look of the tv and it fits perfectly in any room. The stand the tv comes with is glass and very heavy, but look great as it looks like it's floating. I have the tv hooked up to my HD DVR box with component cables and it looks amazing right now. Definately look at the philips brand as it's well designed and look amazing! I have researched a HD tv for a while now and fell in love with this tv. While making my purchase there was a gentleman in the next line with a Philips LCD, he said he researched for a long time also and Philips was the brand he heard the most about!

Buy one and enjoy it!

Strengths: Very easy hardware setup. Initial setup is very intuitive and easy to understand. It has an amazing picture quality and brightness that makes viewing great.
Weaknesses: Advanced channel setup is a little confusing. The compatible wall mounts are somewhat unique making finding one a bit more challenging.
Summary: After a lot of research and checking out reviews on this TV (first true LCD) I decided to purchase it. I got it all setup last night and, as noted in the strengths, it was a breeze to setup once I turned it on! The system walks you through picture preferences to help adjust brightness, contrast, sharpness, color, etc so there is no need to study a monster manual to get a great picture! It auto-scanned for all available channels and was up and running within 10 minutes of power up! It's a bright, crisp picture and actually defaulted to auto-adjusting the picture to fill the screen - VERY NICE! This not only eliminates the possibility of burn-in, but also eliminates the annoying black bars that sometimes appear on the sides / top-bottom of the screen with commercials or older programs. Sound is also good - and somewhat adjustable through the setup as well (bass, treble, etc).

My only issue is figuring out how to customize the channels - not so intuitive so I'm going to have to pull out the manual to figure it out. A very small annoyance so I give the TV a hearty two thumbs up!!

Strengths: Lots of features, price, auto aspect ratio, very good picture.
Weaknesses: Sound, glossy frame, weight.
Summary: This LCD is a great value, especially if you can find it during a sale or at one of the warehouse stores. This is the companion version of Philip's ambilight model 7432D. The only differences are that this version does not have ambilight or the swivel stand.

It is very attractive, but the glossy frame definitely reflects any potential glare during the day. The sound is okay, but most people looking for a TV like this are using a home theater system anyway.

The HD picture is excellent and SD is very good, too. There are many picture settings and adjustments. Several of them are independent for each input. The color settings can be customized instead of just using the typical 'temperature' settings. The component inputs can accept full 1080p inputs like PS3 and Xbox 360! One of the best features on this TV is the auto aspect ratio - any SD source is automatically adjusted to fit the 42" screen with the least amount of distortion! The black levels and viewing angles are also very good for an LCD.

This TV also has an auto feature that increases the brightness/contrast of the screen during the day and reduces it at night, but as with other TV's with this feature, it works okay for most of the time. It can be turned on or off.

You might find something better, but not anywhere near this price with all of these features. And, from everything I've read, Philips has very good customer service, including the ability to update the TV's firmware with a USB drive.

Strengths: Very easy to set up and hook up, Looks sharp and stylish. Can play music and photo directly via USB input.
Weaknesses: No VGA output, less choice on menu control.
Summary: The first moment I open the box and install it, I'm very pleased with the TV. I purchased it after quite some research and after disappointed by vizio. It seems quite outstanding for the features it provides and for the reasonable price. I used to be a Sony fan, but do not want to pay extreme high premium for a digital TV. The installation process went on very smoothly and easily. The wizard guided me through preferred audio and video setup. The clear image appeared immediately. I love the USB direct so that I can play my photo and music easily(tips, do not use big size of jump drive full of small files, it will be very slow to read through all files.)

Time goes by, I still LOVE the TV for it's outstanding quality and look, but I found some points I really hope Philips can improve. First, it doesn't have a VGA output. I do not understand why Philips remove it since I heard it's available for Asia market. Sure I can connect computer via DVI to HDMI interface, but my old laptop only get VGA output, and I believe the majority of not-so-high-end laptop do not have DVI output. For people frequently want to hood up with laptop, it's big disadvantage. Second, the menu control is very limited. It's intuitive and easy, on the other side, it didn't provide advanced choice for people who like to control more. Third, info button is not nice. I had a vizio which I can access to digital program info easily by one "info" button without affecting watching tv at the same time. For this one, I had to go menu, and scroll down to info to look at the digital tv program information, and it occupied the most center of tv screen. That's annoying.

Overall I love the tv and believe it proved to be very good value for its price range, although there are some usability improvements needed.

Strengths: Great image quality, excellent value
Weaknesses: User interface could be improved
Summary: Very happy with my purchase so far. I've heard complaints that it takes a while to power up, mine never takes more than 10 seconds. Love the firmware upgrade through USB key; default calibration is on the bright side, I divided the power consumption by 3(from 240W to 75W) by turning down brightness to more reasonable levels.

Integrated digital tuner is good, although it has difficulties picking up channel names (which my tivo HD has no problem with). Digital/HD looks amazing, analog will be good provided you have good signal, otherwise it will look awful, no matter what settings you try!

I would like the source input menu to be more customizable, ie be able to remove inputs from it instead of having them just display "none".

Overall a great product.
