Strengths: Very easy to set up and hook up, Looks sharp and stylish. Can play music and photo directly via USB input. 3 HDMI input to hook up all players.
Weaknesses: No VGA input, slow startup, less choice on menu control.
Summary: I purchased this tv after I bought my Philips 42PFL7422D/37 42" LCD TV and satisfied with the quality for the very reasonable price I paid. They are in the same series of TV, so they shared similar strengths and weaknesses.
Overall this tv is proved to be a good buy for its high image quality, feature, look and feel, and relative good price. The image is quite sharp and clear, and can compete with any other brand. It has 3 HDMI inputs which can accommodate all xbox, wii, etc. However, it still inherits the shortcoming from its sibling- 42PFL7422D. One is to be no VGA input, you have to have PC with DVI or HDMI interface to connect the TV. Another is it takes very long time to turn on the tv, remote control seems slow as well. Another problem is the limit control over menu choice, which is simple, but lack of advanced features. Did I mention that the installation of this tv is very straightforward, intuitive, and takes just 10 minutes to get very clear OTA signal? I would recommend this tv, and this series of tv to people who are not very technical exposed, and love the simple solution. Of course this tv has the biggest size in the series for the moment, which is phenomenon to watch. As people said to purchase a hdtv, the bigger the better if you can afford. I totally agree.

Strengths: Great picture, great price, nice on screen setup and color calibration.
Weaknesses: Remote is garbage, small no back light.
Summary: Color on TV seems to tint skin a little reddish, however I think this will probably go away once i properly calibrate it. TV looks great, I especially like how they integrated the speakers. Some other TV's do a very poor job of this.

Strengths: relative cheap price, high quality, 1080P
Weaknesses: It takes time to turn on..
Summary: There are three HDMI inputs and it will be useful in the near future to enjoy full HD device. The screen quality is very clear and vivid. But, the remote looks so cheap stuff.

Strengths: 1. Simple setup.
2. Full 1080p.
3. Incredibly sharp picture.
4. 3xHDMI and 1xUSB.
5. QAM, HDTV tuners.
Weaknesses: 1. Doesn't have DVI or VGA input. Have to buy a DVI-to-HDMI
cable/adapter to connect it to a home theater PC.
2. No PIP feature.
Summary: I had been looking for full HDTV for months reading tons of reviews and comparing picture quality/price of different TV's in Bestbuy/CircuitCity. Finally I decided to get this Philips and on Thanksgiving I bought it at Costco for $1,500. I'm very happy with my TV. Colors and picture quality are great and don't depend on view angle.

Strengths: proper screen size(47 inch), reasonable price, good screen quality. various media inputs and outputs
Weaknesses: no stock! in a store (although I found it on website).
Summary: I bought this from Costco, but it was so difficult to find a stock. I visited 3 Costco to find it. It was too heavy to deal with my wife :) This is a full HD TV which means 1080P, but I don't have any compatible DVD player, PS3, or Blue ray etc. In order to use all function it has, you need all new stuffs. It has a good LCD quality. HD signal from my Philops Amplified antenna comes in crystal clear. It has a lot of input plugs, especially, this unit has 3 HDMI inputs. This TV was $700 cheaper than SONY full HD 46 inch, but SONY cannot beat it based on price/quality(performance), I think.

Thinking of buying a Philips? Please read and save yourself a costly mistake.
Strengths: The picture is nice.
Weaknesses: Please see the comments section
Summary: I am documenting everything on a blog I specifically created for this problem, here: dontbuyphilips.blogspo...
I would include the entire post, but I am limited to 3000 words/characters in this comment box.
Please don't make the same mistake I did. Thanks!

Strengths: Everything looks good, most of all the price (1100.00 at wallymart)
Weaknesses: same as the others, but I can live without.
Summary: My wife noticed the one thing that made the final decision. We were standing in front of several tvs and she noticed that the philips was the only one that didn't glare or get light reflections when the screen went dark.

Strengths: Reasonably priced 1080p lcd, 3 hdmi connections, 1 usb port, sharp 1080p picture, good selection of options for customizing screen clarity, brightness and details, nice black frames.
Weaknesses: No dedicated vga for pc hookup except through dvi/hdmi conversion, average sound quality, must wait for about 30 seconds after turn-on for the unit to accept the remote commands.
Summary: One of the major advantages for this unit is that its screen is very sharp and clear on high definition signals. For standard definition signals, it is fairly acceptable though it could be improved. The unit has a good selection of menu options to customize video calibration to everyone’s taste. There is even a good set of recommended video settings on the net that yield the best overall picture. I also like the auto detection of source’s image size and adjust to fit best on the screen. However, some people may not like this feature because it acts like zooming in/out on its own. I also like the included usb port for software upgrade besides pictures and music. Since my unit arrived with the latest software version, I did not have to upgrade but it will be nice and convenient in the future. The contrast ratio of 8000:1 seems low on spec, but in reality this unit is very bright. Additionally, its refresh rate is 60Hz on spec, but to my surprise it does not even display a hiccup in fast motion scenes like car racing or action movies.
Now I find its two major disadvantages are: no vga input for pc (though one can use a dvi/hdmi conversion cable and an audio cable to achieve the same result) and its sound is very mediocre. The set’s audio may be ok for news or soap programs, but for movies, it is best to use dedicated audio components. I learned to get used to the delayed response (approximately 30 seconds) to the remote after the unit is turned on. This is well documented in the manual so if you read it, you will be prepared not to be disappointed and not to think that there is something wrong with either the remote or the unit.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I will buy another Phillips unit again.

Strengths: Moderately priced for a great 1080P resolution
3 AV inputs, 3 HDMI inputs, Side input (with USB for firmware updates/pictures/music)
Classy TV stand (glass base with metal neck)
Easy to follow Menu
Weaknesses: Slight red tone dominance in initial setup requires adjustment
Slow startup speed
Very weak speakers (you will need to connect a sound system for decent quality sound)
No VGA input
Summary: If you can get a good price on this, then go for it. Just be aware that you will need to invest in a sound system as well. I've never had any technical problems with it and am quite pleased with its performance.

Strengths: Picture quality, Sound quality, Stylish look
Weaknesses: no DVI, minute delay after switch-on
Summary: 2008-06-10 19:15:04 The image quality is extremely good. It's set to auto detect what ever you plug to it. It in fact found some hd channels on cable network that we were not getting on analog tv. You can fine tune color, high contrast, and several other setting.
The USB port accepts USB Card Readers, and you can view pictures on screen.
The audio quality is good too.
