Strengths: seems quick, quiet
Weaknesses: none
Summary: I got this drive to replace a 80GB 7200.7 that went bad, so I didn't need lots of space, just a cheap, fast drive. It came down to this drive and the Western Digital Caviar SE16, which were compared in their 320GB versions at www.anandtech.com/show... . They basically declared a tie between the two, with the edge to Seagate for its warranty.

Since the most HD-intense work I'll be doing on this machine is some video editing, I opted for the Seagate, which seems to have the edge in sustained transfer rate (e.g. reading/writing large video files).

The drive is working great so far and the 5-year warranty provides insurance for as long as I'll need the drive. (The authorized retailers through which the warranty is valid are listed at www.seagate.com/ww/v/i...)

Strengths: Quiet, fast, runs cooler than western digital drives
Weaknesses: None
Summary: Worked right out of the box. Drive is fast, quiet. Have been using for last week with no problems. I switched to Seagate drives from Western digital. Western digital drives run hotter and I have been having higher drive failures. Highly recommend the barracuda drive.

Strengths: Affordable
Weaknesses: None
Summary: You just can't go wrong with the specs and the affordability. I don't have any use for a "super-large" hard drive, but 250GB is affordable -- so couldn't hurt to have a little wiggle room. The drive spins at 7200 RPM and is noticeable when accessing programs and files. After 3 months so far, so good!

Strengths: Slim (smaller size .80") , single platter , higher STR than other 7200.10 drives , very quite and fast . 5yr warranty .
Weaknesses: None .
Summary: This latest edition to Seagates 72.0010 drives . This drive is a single platter with a higher STR (sustained rate) making the drive almost as fast a WD 150 Raptor .

The drive is SUPER quite and runs nice and cool with the help of less moving parts (less platters and motors) .

Put these drives in a raid array and watch your system fly , and even more so if your lucky enough to have a Matrix raid chipset .

The new 7200.11 drives are coming soon but retain the same basic specs as this drive but with higher capacity(s) .

All in all great new addition from Seagate that wont disappoint , even the most hard core pc enthusiast such as myself . Highly recommend !

*added note: this drive is only available online so-far and does not come retail , only as bulk/oem .

Strengths: Fast, reliable, long 5 year warranty!
Weaknesses: none
Summary: What more can you ask from a hard drive? This one is most importantly reliable, and Seagate is backing that up with a 5 year warranty... nobody else will back their drives like this anymore. I've had ongoing HD failures with some other popular brands, so loved to see the warranty from Seagate.

Also, as noted by others, this drive will not disappoint you... it's fast and quiet, and installs without a hitch. I've used several Seagate HD's now, and they're running great.

Strengths: Fast, quiet, cool
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: Very satisfied with this drive. Low noise, low heat. This is my first SATA drive and I was surprised how thin it is. No problem with reading or writing - fast performer. 5 year warranty is on top of that too!
