Strengths: - Excellent Price Point - Fast AMD Dual Core Mobile Processor - Windows Vista Home Premium (Not the Cheaper Basic) - Good sized keyboard - 15.4" widescreen LCD is great for movies
Weaknesses: - Short battery life (around 2¼ hours) - Gets quite hot (be careful on your lap) - Lots of bloatware (easy to remove though) - Plastic case requires some care when traveling
Summary: This laptop is an excellent buy for a student or a home user who wants a decent multimedia laptop without shelling out a fortune. I would recommened upgrading the RAM to 2GB if you decide to stay with Windows Vista, but the machine is quite speedy.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase!

Strengths: Dual core, fast, price
Weaknesses: none
Summary: 2007-07-14 19:38:01 I got it from staples for a pretty reasonable price. The cpu is a amd's new dual core processor TK-53. It is pretty fast if you turn vista areo off. Compared with my friend's acer intel dual core, they are almost with same speed. I am very satisfied with it and no complaint. It is enough for a basic using. If you want do more calculation work, you may consider upgrade memory to 2GB.

Strengths: 1GB DDR2 memory, DVD±RW DL, Windows Vista Home Premium, 15.4" WXGA High-Definition Brightview Widescreen LCD
Weaknesses: Battery life is short; power hungry Athlon X2 processor. It seems a little hot when it works. NO card reader. No firwire.
Summary: Good 15.4" WXGA High-Definition Brightview Widescreen LCD and DVD±RW DL. The 1GB RAM is adequate for Vista Home Premium. The speed is also OK. However the battery life is short, and the laptop seems a little hot when it works. NO card reader. No firwire.

In general, it is enough for internet and word processing. But for calculation and game, it needs to be upgraded.

Strengths: Everything (1 Gig memory!)
Weaknesses: Comes with all these stupid programs pre loaded into which try and start every time you start the computer, I had to delete a bajillion and turn off in options a bajillion more.
Summary: I bought this laptop on sale at Frys. It was 499 with no further obligations. It far surpasses my other laptop which I bought July 4 2006 for 800$ It is fast and even runs windows vista without breaking a sweat or sounding like a motorcycle. It is SUPER quiet. I had a heart attack when I tried to install Sims 1 and the computer screen went black when I clicked it. But then I realized its an old game, restarted, and now it's sickeningly fast to do everything. It plays the Harry Potter 4 game with no lag, unlike my 800$ laptop which I bought at the same time as HP 4 PC Game. It is streaming music to me right now with not a hint of lag.

It's really an amazing computer for the price. I was being stingy and here I've got a lovely machine. Oh yes, the best part about this is the DISPLAY. ITS BREATHTAKING. My 800$HP had really wierd colours and shadow displays. Always looked a little too light this one is perfect. The screen doesnt shine too much either and its VERY portable and lightweight, and you don't have to press a button when opening the screen.

Strengths: 1) 1.7GHz 2) expandable 2GB Memory 3) Windows Vista Premium 4) AMD graphics
Weaknesses: 1) Only comes with 512x2MB -1GB 2) Heavy
Summary: This laptop is excellent for general web browsing and word processing. I bought it to surf and finish my work at home. So far it has served it's purpose. Recommended for those who need a decent laptop for general purposes. It is fast and sturdy.

Strengths: Powerful, elegant
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: This is my first time to use AMD 64 dual core laptop. I am very pleased with the speed. Comparing with other laptop, the out color of this laptop is not very vivid. Looks dark and mood-affecting. But totally, this is a great laptop. I like it very much.

Strengths: Fast dual-core AMD Athlon processor and vivid 15.4" high-def widescreen.
Weaknesses: Comes with 1GB of RAM which can be expanded to 2GB. Wish RAM could be expanded to 3GB or 4GB. Shared video memory instead of dedicated.
Summary: I got this for my daughter and she loves it. Setting it up was a breeze (wireless internet connection etc). Some of my daughter's education software does not work and I think it is an issue with Microsoft Vista rather than the laptop. For the price we paid, we are happy with the laptop overall.

Strengths: Low price. Nice display
Weaknesses: Short battery
Summary: Over all, it is a nice laptop for its current low price. I got it for $450, I think it is a good price for a dual-core processor laptop. 1GB memory is not enough though, I strongly suggest adding 1GB more to run vista home premium edition on it. The battery can only last about 1.5-2 hours, which is another weakness. But I do believe it is a good buy for daily use.

Strengths: fast
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: this is the best lappy that I ever have, compare to my compaq amd3000+ lappy, this one is really amazing. super fast speed, I like the screen also, not like other shining screen, this one is really clear. For the price , I bought it for 400 plus tax at staple, what you can complain about.

Strengths: fast dual core and 1 gb ram
Weaknesses: not much
Summary: just bought this unit on sale for $400.00 with HP rebate from Fry's. The unit comes with an 80 GB 5400rpm hard drive and a 512 PC2-5300 memory (I believe one memory chip only, there are usually two standard slots in the machine) and loaded with basic VISTA Operating System.

3 Star ReviewGood, but slow
Strengths: Great Price!
Weaknesses: Heavy and 1GB RAM is not enough - Vista makes it very slow!
Summary: Great Machine for its price, however, 1GB RAM is too little for VISTA. It is very slow, takes a couple of minutes to turn on/off. New design is great and price is beautiful!

If you add 1GB ram it should be running pretty smoothly.

Strengths: 1gig ram, athelon processor instead of mobile turion, clear screen,
Weaknesses: came with vista
Summary: I got the laptop toyed around with it, it was decent, barely ran secondlife in 240 x 240 mode, made me a bit sad, but it was pretty slick otherwise..then I upgraded from Vista to XP, oh man, the diffrence!I run secondlife in full screen mode flawlessly, at idle its using 240meg of ram, and the vidcard reallocates from a 64 meg card to a 256 meg vid card..... its quiet, reliable, cant beat the price, got mind new for 475 off ebay brand new, I see people crying about firewire, they really have no clue what firewire is for, half the people who dont have it and are complaining doing have anything that uses it soooo.. long story short, there are firewire to usb adaptors and when transfering photos theres no noticable diffrence aside from a few seconds for a full album dump....to sum it up, if you want something new, powerful and that is able to handle some gaming, tons of media and you want it portable, this is your laptop. the only step up from this is an XPS Dell

Strengths: Low Price, Screen size, Speed
Weaknesses: Battery Life, hard drive size
Summary: We have owned this laptop 2 months now. We are very pleased with it. We bought it to replace a 5 yr old desktop which had died. Got the laptop at Staples for $439 after rebate. Our requirements were as follows: Laptop with price as low as possible, Wireless Capability, Vista Home Premium, Reads and Writes CDs and DVDs, 1 GB Ram,Dual Core Processor. This laptop meets the above requirements at the lowest price. We have not used the wireless capability to access hot spots yet. I understand we will be disappointed by the battery life which is supposed to be in the 1 1/2 to 2 hr range. We have not tested this yet either.

Overall we are very happy with it and it meets all of our needs so far.

Strengths: Good price
Weaknesses: no hp imprint
Summary: Got it from Staples under $500. Compared with Intel Dual Core processor, AMD TK53 seems more attractive since the price is lower and performance is comparable. TK53 seems better than old turion TL-50 and 52 since it is based on 65nm. The laptop has Vista home premium which is good to me with 1GB shared memory. DVD double layer burner is a plus. However the chasis is not inlaid hp imprint so it is not as beautiful as some hp product.
