Strengths: Slot loading drive, relatively lightweight, LED backlight, fingerprint reader
Weaknesses: WXGA screen; problems with motherboard whine
Summary: This is a solid laptop to fill the gap that Dell's Inspiron 700m left. It's relatively small & of reasonable lightweight. It's by no means an ultraportable but it's not a full desktop replacement either. It falls in the middle, easily ported but with useful on a desk as well. Nice touches are the slot-loading CD drive and the LED backlight (optional). The drive saves you from the awkward snap-in process that every other laptop drive requires. The LED backlight extends battery life and allows for a thinner screen overall. I only have two complaints. The first is that, at 13.3", the screen should offer a higher resolution than WXGA. The second complaint is that mine suffered from the high-pitched whining noise that has plagued motherboards of this model (google around for details). Dell replaced my laptop for free, and my new m1330 still had a whine but it was far less noticeable so I kept it. Supposedly the newer chipsets do not have this problem, but buyer beware.
