Picture quality less than I had expected from a Sharp TV.
Strengths: Picture adjustment, DVI input if needed, 1080p.
Weaknesses: Split picture does NOT work when the HDMI input is used. This and many other new TVs should have at least two HDMI inputs. These are needed given most times a converter box and DVD player are used.
Summary: I am disappointed with the quality of the picture. I had the opportunity to use the new Sony 40" V40XBR1 LCD for a few weeks and when I put the new Sharpe next to it, the Sony clearly has a better picture even with the broader picture adjustment. I was originally going to buy the Sony 40" LCD but decided I should go w/ the larger 45" and 1080p (the Sony is 720p) for when the networks begin to broadcast in 1080p. Since I bought the Sharp on-line, I can't return it and now am stuck with a picture that I know could and should be better.
The other thing that bothers me is the fact you can't use the HDMI if you want the split screen during football season. Due to the fact that many of the new DVD players are coming out with an HDMI output, these televisions should be coming out w/ at least 2 HDMI inputs. I recommend the 40" Sony V40XBR1 LCD if you want the sharper picture. Ther is a VERY NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE between these two TVs!
