It's a genuine HP-Toner cartridge. To me, this means . . .
Strengths: It's a genuine HP-Toner cartridge. To me, this means quality gets the highest mark
Weaknesses: It's a genuine HP-Toner cartridge. To me, this means pricing just plain sucks! (Thus explaining the overall mediocre score I give this product.)
Summary: I highly recommend that you purchase this product because currently, I can't find an alternate, more reasonably priced replacement product.
I don't know of any reviewer who has verified that this cartridge will actually produce 6,000 (8.5" x 11") pages with the equivalent of 1/20 of each page covered in black toner. Hate to let you down but I'm not going to be the first. Let's just accept the numbers in good faith. What I can tell you is that of the day of this writing, I have done the homework and concluded that if the spec sheets are indeed accurate, the 6,000 page cartridge provides a better bang for the buck than either of the other two put-ups. HP didn't get to be a leader by not backing up their products so I expect no problems with this unit. If there are any, I will return and amend this review.
Since it is an HP printer consumable, I have one more thing to add. The word on the street is that many people, novices to geek-types (and you can include me) think HP (and some other printer maufacturer's) toner and inkjet cartridges are grossly overpriced. IMHO, they should be GIVING their printers away . . . just so they can sell you their consumables.
Would I and have I ever used toners offered by a reputable 3rd party in HP printers? Absolutely(!) . . . especially since the "20% jump". Still, I bought the HP-1320 printer knowing I would be locked into buying consumables from HP, ONLY, at least temporarily. (Presently, third pary sources appear to have been taken out of the loop via product design and, perhaps, other concerns.)
I have never had a printer fail because of the source of toner and/or toner cartridges I've chosen and, consequently, have little or no concern about how this might affect a printer's warranty . . . and still, I've run through a couple of printers to the point that the paper pickup/handling mechanisms were shot!
So, where toners are concerned, do YOU think the "big boys" prices are justified because of the (so far imperceptible to me) differences between the quality of their toners/cartridges and those offered by reputable 3rd parties or do you think there could there be some other motive? A generous 3-star rating is the best I can do, here.
