Strengths: Great program... if you can get it installed into XP.
Weaknesses: Buggy installation with XP. I never could get it to install properly. Tech support from Roxio is terrible, and their upgrades don't work at all.
Summary: As long as your're running anything but XP, you should be ok. If you are using XP or plan to upgrade, I strongly suggest using another product.

Strengths: A great product for all your burning needs. Very easy to learn to use.
Weaknesses: The sound editor lacks a little but this product was exactly designed for that anyway.
Summary: As long as you are a competent computer user you should have no problems with this software. I don't know where all the negative reviews came from. This is a great program as long as you don't need your hand held while setting in front of a monitor!!!!

Strengths: Outstanding stability and ease of use.
Weaknesses: Take Two backup utility. Don't bother to install this part of the program. There are much better stand alone backup softwares.
Summary: I've been using Adaptec Easy CD Creator since version 3. Version 5 is the best product of the series. I've burned literaly hundreds of CD-Rs and RWs with this software and very very seldom ever burn a coaster. As with most products it is possible to buy BAD media, which will result in many more coasters. Maxell, Memorex, and Imation are top of the list products that work well for me. I stay away from products like PNY and Dysan as the quality matches the price, LOW.

As with most systems, even the very best of software apps may not work well on a system that is SICK to start with. I maintain PCs every day and nearly every day see PCs that are used like garbage cans. Every little poorly written free program that is available is downloaded from the internet and installed. Most of them stink or are loaded with spyware, that's why they're free. You just end up with a screwed up system and then you blame a fine program suite like Easy CD Creator for your problematic system.

I always enjoy reading software/hardware reviews, especially the very negative ones because in my opinion MOST of the PC abusers writing the negative reviews should NOT even own a PC.

My advice to MOST of you negative reviewers is to find a competant, qualified PC technician to figure out why you can't burn CDs successfully.

You've got bad hardware/hardware configuration or an operating system that has been screwed up by impatience, neglect, or lack of knowledge (also known as ignorance).

Strengths: Great display of website
Weaknesses: This software isn't worth your $$$. Believe me if all you want is a software that will burn for VCD purposes, use Nero 5.5 It's the better software. I have wasted so many CD-R's in the trash.
Summary: This software does have vcd ability to put them to rom, when it decides to let you without a bunch of error messages. I have never once been successful in using this software without an error message. Half the time when you burn a CD, it waits til it's 99% done, then says your Brand new CD R is corrupted or has error's on it.

Don't buy this product Not worth the $$$$

Strengths: A well known name and a fancy bubble-gum user interface.
Weaknesses: Incompatible with too many systems!
Summary: Roxio needs to go back to the "Keep It Simple, Silly" (KISS) concept that Adaptec started. This software has become one big bell and whistle program with no real operable benefit.

I used the Adaptec product for years and now that I've been hassled by Roxio, I've decided to look at other options. Try Nero - it's worth looking at. Roxio needs to find it's niche again.

Strengths: Nice screens
Weaknesses: Everything else
Summary: If you like losing data, throwing away cdr's and endlessly

downloading new versions,up patches, calling long distance to california on you own money and waiting on line for (sometimes) hours to speak to a service technician who just does not help you fix it anyway, then this product is right for you!Excuses vary here so be wary.On your new computer: the burner harddrive is not up to date, you did not clean out the old files correctly etc,etc.,etc.!

When a shiny new replacement disc comes in the mail its no fix either. The video, images programs are add ons of arcsofts so if cd creator don,t work don't think its all arcsofts problem.Roxios old cdcreator 4 worked fine but not with xp. Help me find a better cd burner software!!!

2 Star ReviewI am looking for a replacement for this software, ...
Strengths: Click and drag then hit the burn button. Easy to use.
Weaknesses: Freezes drive. You will lose one fourth of your blank cds. If you try to tranfer a direct-cd to another computer it can crash all your saved data and make your cdrw useless.
Summary: I am looking for a replacement for this software, Today! I would not recommend this software. I have spent hours pulling my hair out trying to get it to just transfer data. I have had less trouble with music.

I have had to take the battery out of my laptop after the software has crashed and hung the computer just to restart the computer.

Strengths: Nice interface. Does everything you need, works very well when it works.
Weaknesses: DANGER: This software will take out your hard drive worse than any virus!!!
Summary: DANGER WARNING: I cannot overstress the importance of avoiding this well-known and popular software. It has a bug (acknowledged by their support) that will render your hard drive unbootable, and will kill your operating system (at least with Windows 2000).

This review keeps limiting me to 1500 chars, so I will have to leave out a lot of important details, but here's the very brief summary:

On 2 occasions this week, (the second while on the phone with Roxio Support) an attempt to fix CD Creator 5 Platinum problems on Windows 2000, by uninstalling CD Creator, caused my computer to fail to boot, with STOP 07B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. No amount of trying or using your ERD will fix it. Roxio Support had a replacement file they said would fix it, but it didn't. I had to reinstall Windows 2000 and all my software twice this week. All my software configuration info for dozens of programs was lost each time. The first time, I didn't realize Roxio was causing the crashes; I thought it was a virus or HD corruption. After the second time, and their admission that their software causes it, I will NEVER use their products again. I just wish I live in CA so I could more easily sue them for producing a product that will damage your computer so severely.

If you need to call their (non-toll-free) support, plan on spending about 90 minutes on hold before you get to talk to anyone.

Strengths: nice user interface
Weaknesses: everything else
Summary: I've had uncountable problems with this program. After one problem is fixed another one seems to come up. The patches do not work very well either. I'm running windows XP and had the hardest time installing it. I didn't bother tech support because according to the other reviews they were helpless and it was just a waste of time. I purchased Nero and installed it without a problem. NTI is also a great program to use with windows XP. However, Nero was superior to all the programs I've tried by far. Never any buffer underrun erros or anything. With easy cd creator i throw away about every other cd because of all the errors. I highly recommend Nero. It's very reliable and even though the interface is not as colorful as easy cd creator it's definitely worth getting used to.

Strengths: MAIN PAGE LOOKS GREAT
Weaknesses: WONT BURN WITHOUT ERRORS, OVERRUN, UNDERRUN AND OTHERS. WASTED LOTS OF CDRS AND THE $80.00 I PAID FOR THE UPGRADE
Summary: AFTER USING UP ALL OF MY NEW BLANK CDR,S IT CRASHED THE BURNER SO I HAD TO BUY MORE NEW SOFTWARE AND A NEW CENDYNE BURNER, IT WORKS GREEAT WITH THE PROGRAM THAT CAME WITH IT.

THE DISK LABEL PROGRAM IS VERY GOOD. KEEPING THAT PART ANYWAY.

Strengths: none
Weaknesses: will not install on Windows XP------when it does it corrupts your whole system. I had to have Microsoft work with me for two hours getting my system back to normal.
Summary: Under no circumstances would I ever try to install this Roxio product on my computer. Even Roxio techs could not do it. All they would do would send me another disk-------I have 4 now--------its a real dog.

Strengths: Wow, what can I say? Incredibly good software, 5 Stars
Weaknesses: Nadda, but it does take up a LOT of space.
Summary: Despite the whopping amount of space it takes up, this program is highly worth it. If you're looking for a good software for burning CDs, BUY THIS. This gives you the whole nine yards of CD making, WITH SUPPORT FOR MP3s! The Almighty, Ultimate Program is here!

Strengths: Roxio CD Creator works exceptionally well for recording music and data CD's
Weaknesses: The backup utility that is incorporated in the software does not work as one would expect.
Summary: I made the mistake of not finding out what else was in the market to do complete drive backups. In using Roxios' backup utility it took six 700MB CDR's to complete. It took the better of six hours to do a full backup, and the kicker was on restoring my backup. I wound up shuffling 6 CD's in and out of the CD drive for three days in a row from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon. It was very painful and frustrating, to say the least, in trying to restore my entire drive files. I finally gave up on the fourth straight day. Roxio's support was not helpful with my problem at all. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TO USE ROXIOS BACKUP UTLILITY!!!!!!

Strengths: Good Music interface for using multiple sources.
Weaknesses: Pulling pictures from different folders becomes tiresome with Roxio's interface.
Summary: I purchased the Platinum upgrade for my new Dell with the assurance from Roxio that it would work with XP and my new 24x NEC drive. It did not. I had to wait almost 5 weeks for a driver patch to burn with my CD burner.

Strengths: Older versions ok, nice interface.
Weaknesses: Has serious buffer under runs problems like on older versions. Will not run on Windows Xp.
Summary: I had this product for two weeks, I had purchased it at futureshop for $100, here in Canada. I bought it because most of my cd writers came with this software. I wanted more options and features. But it does not work on Windows XP, only thing that works is the direct cd. Then came the real problems, it crashed my system and had to reinstall my operating system. I tried with all the patches from roxio and... microsoft, but to no avail. Very sad indeed, and waste of my time. Do they actually test this product on Windows XP, I find XP very stable than previous versions and all other software works great other than ez cd creator.
