Strengths: Inexpensive DDR3 entry solution, perfectly matched for dual channel operation, attractive black heat spreader, reliable brand name and warranty.
Weaknesses: Lacks package documentation for setting 1333MHz speeds correctly. See Corsair website instead.
Summary: 2008-04-15 13:32:28 I chose this as part of a new rig with a P5K3 mobo and E8400 cpu. Works flawlessly; out of the package it boots up as DDR3-1066 at 7-7-7 timings and 1.50V. This is preprogrammed on the SPD chip for maximum compatibility. To achieve 1333 speeds you have to manually set the bios for DDR3-1333 at 9-9-9-24 timings and 1.70V. These are proper specs from Corsair's website. This is normal procedure for any DDR3 sticks but instructions are lacking in the package documentation.
Memory timing may look high at CL9 but don't let it fool you! The overal bandwidth of DDR3 is incredible in dual channel mode, and I haven't even tried to overclock anything yet. This package is a very attractive entry point for those looking to upgrade to DDR3, especially with the recent price drops and rebate offers. As stated above, will work either as DDR3-1066 (PC3-8500) or DDR3-1333 (PC3-10600).
