Strengths: Features, price, power output.
Weaknesses: Weak RCA outputs, no backlighting
Summary: On a budget, I bought this unit hoping it would deliver adequate performance until I could afford a higher-end unit. Well, I still have it. This base-line head unit from Pioneer has nearly all the important functions and features that their top-end units have. You've got 3 bands of parametric equalization where you can not only adjust the frequency and boost/cut levels, but also the width of the filtering. With just the three parametric eq bands, I was able to get nearly flat response from my audio system with no post-equalization at all. Power output is also fantastic, for this price. 45 MOSFET-fed watts are enough to provide ample volume and clean listening pleasure. My two complaints were only the fairly low-level RCA outputs (which is acceptable at this price range) and the lack of backlighting on the LCD display. Again, at this price, I wouldn't expect a pricey graphic display, but at least some backlighting to help see the display during the daytime.
