Strengths: Text clarity, accurate colors, good purity, great geometry, great focus corner to corner, great convergence, absolutely no slight ghosting. Great price.
Weaknesses: very slightly dimmer than sony. very, very slightly curved compared to absolute flat sony. moire patterns on very fine stipe patterns (rarely encounted). controls are tedious to use, but who cares?
Summary: This monitor is near perfect. Absolutely no ghosting of vertical lines that I've seen in two sony's. The text is sharp all the way to the max rez. 1600X1200 is the sweet spot for this monitor. Corner to corner focus is nearly perfect by most peoples standards unless you look very very closely. It's better than the e540 i returned for sure. Geometry was nearly perfect with a few adjustments, and there are plenty of adjustments to make if need be. The control navigation is cumbersome, but that has nothing to do with image. Diamontron screens are just the slightest bit curved (noticeable in 21") if comparing to a trinitron, but that's a trade off for the superior text focus of the dp2060u. brightness and contrast are a little inferior to sony, as images appear slightly washed out if set too high. But, it is still exceptional and not noticeable if set correctly Price is very good for a monitor of this caliber. The gdm f520 is another i'd consider, but it's twice the price. the cpd e540 loses. haven't seen a g520 which is comparable in price. Since I have gotten used to the absolute flattness of trinitron, this is the only issue that loses to sony... by a hair and for only the pickiest. overall, this monitor should more than equally satisfy those who need sharp text and those who need color accuracy for graphics and video. a proffessional monitor for dirt cheap.
