Strengths: Easy set up, good looking, fine picture, reasonable price
Weaknesses: The audio sounds scratchy sometimes on just one specific channel. Maybe it,s an antenna cable problem.
Summary: 2007-10-17 06:58:22 This is my first new TV in 7 years, they have come a long way. Once you have tried LCD TV you can never go back. I was unsure of what brand to buy, but after researching on the internet, I settled on the 42" LG brand. I went to my local electronics store to see it in action & was favorably impressed, so I went back to Pricegrabber & ordered the set on line thru my local electronics store. Pick up at the store an hour later was easy. They even gave me a $175.00 gift card. What a way to do business! I'm now looking on Pricegrabber for a TV stand to hold my new set.

Strengths: Sleek design, great selection of pc inputs.
Weaknesses: Built-in speakers take up too much real-estate.
Summary: Brightness level makes this excellent for my kitchen, which gets fairly bright during the day. By comparison, our plasma tv looks dull and dim by comparison. One surprise is the sharp text when displaying from a PC (two inputs are available, dvi to hdmi or vga), which works well from more than 10 feet. This display exceeded my expectation, highly recommended.

Strengths: Bright colors, excellent pc inputs.
Weaknesses: Takes awhile to turn on, built-in speakers are worthless.
Summary: I choose this LG model to pair with my HTPC setup and it did not dissappoint. The screen is significantly brighter than plasma displays, which is great when you are sitting 10 feet away trying to surf the web. Only complaint is the lack of DVI inputs and weak built-in speakers, but these are minor gripes as most will end up using dedicated home theater systems and a DVI to HDMI cable can be bought cheaply. Overall, this is a sleek display that works well as a living room pc monitor, which looks brillant at the native 1366x768 resolution.

Strengths: Good Brightness specs (500 cd/m2) Nice Contrast Ratio (8000:1) Fast Response time (5ms) HDTV Tuner Inside 720p is sufficient for the size (37 inches) 1 x Optical Digital Audio Out 2 x HDMI Inputs
Weaknesses: I've noticed that when viewing at about a 40 degree or more angle, the blacks (and overall colors) are not as good as when viewing it straight on. I guess that's to be expected though.
Summary: I would rather have the LG 42 inch 1020P LCD, but this is the next best thing for quite a few hundred dollars less. I'm very happy with it up to this point. And, depending on who you ask, the average viewer will not be able to tell the difference between 1080P and 720P on a 42 inch TV. Any larger than 42 inches and most would probably be able to see the difference.

Strengths: Looks gorgeous! Solid picture and very nice sound.
Weaknesses: None seen so far.
Summary: I just picked this tv up after reading a number of reviews. I also helped my brother buy the 37" version which is basically the same machine just smaller. I am very impressed with both! The picture quality seems flawless and the overall "look" of the set is very sleek and simple. It doesn't try to slip in the silver "highlights" of some of the cheaper brands. The picture quality is great--no dead pixels, banding, streaks, etc. The sound quality also seems good right from the start. LG seems to have solid reliability and I am very pleased with my purchase.

Strengths: picture quality, viewing angle, ATSC tuner
Weaknesses: setup options, light bleed, poor documentation
Summary: 2007-12-20 11:06:14 I am very satisfied with the picture quality of this TV. The contrast and viewing angle are above average for an LCD set. (Note, you can't really believe the specified contrast ratio, since that's achieved with dynamic contrast. There are definitely some artifacts from that, and many owners will want to turn it off.)

My TV does have some mild light bleed in one corner, but I am able to live with it.

The ATSC tuner seems to work pretty well in a difficult multipath environment, but sometimes there is lag between the video and audio.

I agree with other reviewers that the speakers are a little weak for a TV of this quality. Also, I wish it had a headphone jack.

LG's documentation and support is pretty weak. The paper manual supplied is very skimpy. There is a CD with a somewhat larger PDF manual, but even that leaves a lot of questions. For example, I can't find any information on how to use the "USB Media Host" feature. Also, I can't figure out if there are any firmware updates available.

Strengths: looks good with HD DVD player which i returned and waiting for my samsumg blu ray player in the mail. looks amazing with my ps2, cant tell the difference from the 1080p.
Weaknesses: picture not that great when viewing standard cable TV. everything else is flawless.
Summary: was thinking about the 1080p but i cant tell the difference after comparing them at best buy and after reading these reviews. great TV cant wait for my blu ray player

Strengths: Good colors, nice bezel, HD programmings look awesome.
Weaknesses: Some cracking sound after turning the tv off.
Summary: This is a gread HDTV made by LG. 42" is plenty for me but it just personal preference. This tv produces good colors. I highly recommend a video calibration disc such as AVIA. This tv makes HD programming the way it should be. However, the tv sometimes produces some cracking sound after turning it off. It sounds like some components got heated up during use then after it gets turned off it produces a shrinking cracking sound, but it goes away after a few minutes. I heard that this is common in this model so I don't worry yet. Other than this, the tv is awesome when watching HD programmings.

Strengths: Picture quality, easy to use menu, viewing angle, VGA Input
Weaknesses: Remote works to certain angles
Summary: Bought 2 month back and impressed with it after looking at the HD channels. The setup is very easy with a one click menu. Original brightness was at high that made my eyes hurt so we set it to 50%. Good LCD TV if you have a small living room. I hook up the home theater system to the TV so there is no issue to speakers. Compare to price and quality of other 42" this one is the best.

Strengths: Excellent picture quality, Affordable price, good value for money, light weight.
Weaknesses: Most of the connections are on middle rear of the TV, Sound quality is not impressive, Only 2 HDMI connection, 720P native resolutions.
Summary: This is an excellent quality LCD TV for very reasonable price. It has few company setup settings but to get the best picture quality I had to do some color calibration. I have connected my AV receiver and computer via HDMI. I also connected another laptop via RGB port. I have not used other then HDMI/RGB port so not sure about other connections. All setups I used were easy and worked great. I also noticed it is very light weight TV compared to even same size LCD TVs. IMHO, in built Speakers are not enough to get the best audio but because I have attached my AV receiver to it with external speaker and sub-woofer I don’t use TV speakers at all. It has good enough remote but as I have Harmony universal remote I will not be using the remote. One of the limitations is, it has only 2 HDMI ports, I wish it could be better to have 3 HDMI ports. Also both the HDMI ports are on back and in exactly middle of the TV so the cable connection is not easy enough. It has 720P native resolution which is good enough for me and all kind of current TV channels. LG has another model which has an ability to produce 1080P in native resolution but I did not want to pay an extra 300-400 dollars for an extra HDMI port or 1080P native resolution. In short, this TV gives you the best value for your money.

Strengths: Price, great quality for the price. Bight colors, Easy Setup.
Weaknesses: Speakers could be a little better quality.
Summary: Lcd gives a great picture, no dead pixels. 2 HMIT and 2 component inputs. For the money, this is probably the best choice out there right now.Speakers crackle a little. Only suggestion wouldve been an upgrade in the speakers

Strengths: 1) Vibrant colors 2) Fine picture - great for bright rooms. Good contrast and response times. 3) Competitive price
Weaknesses: 1) Slow menu response from remote 2) Audio from speakers seem to crack at times for OTA signal.
Summary: Bought for 2 weeks now and really appreciate the sharp picture and brightness. It seems almost too bright. It has a great contrast ratio of 8000:1 The shiny black exterior really goes well with the rest of the black components although light does tend to reflect off of it. Great value for an 42" TV. Great size for smaller family or living rooms. Don't really need 1080p at this size because I can't tell the difference between that and 720p. Almost good as Samsungs and Sharps and I looked at Westinghouse and other brands lower in price but their picture didn't seem as good. Didn't really notice any ghosting on actions sequences in movies. Plenty of Hi-Def inputs with 2 HDMI and 2 component. The remote menu does seem to drag a bit when controlling it. Sometimes I can hear a crack from the audio speakers but maybe that's just coming from the OTA signal. Overall, the TV is recommended.

Strengths: Super easy setup, nice gloss design, and high comparable contrast ratio within price range.
Weaknesses: Possibly the sound system. My previous full size tv sounded better. However, I do not think it is fair to give this a negative as you cannot expect a large sound out of a thin television (yet).
Summary: This television is so easy to setup. The menu has easy selection between analog, digital, catd and other media. The 8000:1 contrast ratio was one of the biggest selling points and I viewed it compared with other sets. The 720P works for me given the size of the tv and the price. I am also amazed on how well local stations can be received via digital. Drop the analog and go with the LG digital.

Strengths: Sharp Pictures, Large Screen, Easy to Use
Weaknesses: Not a 1080p
Summary: If you looking for a good tv with great charity but doesn't want to spend too much money, then this is the best bang for the buck. You will not regret it. I love mine. So far so good!

Strengths: Picture clarity, number of inputs
Weaknesses: takes a long time to switch channels
Summary: I was nervous about getting an LG after reading some negative reviews online, but I must say that I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of this set. The picture clarity is outstanding, and the tv is very easy to set up. All you have to do is select "EZ Scan" and the tv will automatically pick up all available digital and analog channels using the tuners. I highly recommend this tv!
