Strengths: Full 720p, built-in HD tuner, wide viewing angle, HDMI inputs, good contrast ratio
Weaknesses: Tuner control on TV is weird if not using cable box, menu could be simpler/quicker
Summary: 2007-10-16 10:07:43 LG may not be as big a brand as other companies but this TV had more features for a cheaper price when I bought it at the end of 2006 for a bedroom. The screen is a (1366 x 768) LCD so it has enough pixels for native 720p and can be seen from a very wide angle even on the sides. It also has a good contrast ratio so the screen can get plenty bright and there are even Brightness buttons on the remote (which select through a FIXED set of nine levels). The on-screen TV menu looks very nice but a few features require going into a sub menu of a sub menu. One great thing (for a TV this size) is that it has a good built-in HD tuner so you can attach a cheapie antenna and start watching the major network HD channels immediately. There do seem to be ways to create favorite channel lists or restrict tuners but I have not investigated it much because I just connect a cable box to 1 of the 2 HDMI inputs.

The reason I say restrict tuners is that when not using a cable box, the TV is able to receive several tuner lists. This means you can end up with more channels (both Standard and High Definition) but the channels you want may be scattered across the various lists. For example in MD, you push 5 on the TV remote and you end up with CATV 5, CATV-2 5, DTV 5.1, and TV 5. In this instance you probably want to watch in the high definition DTV 5.1 but then if you hit channel up you will go to the next high definition channel on that tuner instead of the standard definition channel you may want next. Check the TV and remote out in the store if you want to see what I mean.

I wish the screen was a little bit sharper on the Standard Definition cable channels but any HDTV that has to display “low-def” will have that issue.

Strengths: High Contrast, Good Price, 2 HDMI
Weaknesses: None So Far
Summary: I just bought this tv today from Circuit City. They price matched this tv down to $599 to match a Conns ad from this weekend. So far I am very pleased with the quality. I compared this tv at Circuit City to other brands like Vizio and Olevia. I must say that you do get what you pay for. The picture quality on the off brand tvs are horrible when you compare them to some of the name brand sets. One thing I noticed when I got this home is that the default settings for video are horrible. I visited my friends at avsforum and found some suggested settings. These made a big difference.

Strengths: Perfect color in HD, easy set-up, user friendly remote and Great looking display on wall or stand
Weaknesses: As with all LCD tv's from what i have found, they have there best picture in HD
Summary: I purchased this TV from HHGreg after looking at all of the LCD and Plasma tv's at Best buy and C.C. Greg had the best deal of all in the size we wanted. We went with the LG based on price, size, picture quality in showroom. The set up was easy as it gets. The picture we were getting from our digital cable box was alright but not great, i replaced our standard digital cable box with a high def. cable box and it was like night and day. On the HD channels. you find yourself checking out how crisp and sharp the picture and colors are that you lose track of the program or show you are watching. I have told my wife many times, Wow that is a great picture. This is the first product i have had from LG and i can say if all of there products are like this one it wont be my last. To make my deal even better i found the price of the TV lower at another store and went back and was able to get a price match + 10 percent. After you look around check this one last and then you will see for price size and great picture you cant go wrong with this one.

Strengths: 1. Different preset ratios for viewing. 2. Plenty of inputs 3. Lots of user definable settings for color calibration Nice looking menu Cables can be easily hidden
Weaknesses: 1. Price IS more than other brands with a 32" panel. 2. Reds and similar shades seem to have problems on this TV(they look awkward and have a weird glow to them)
Summary: This is my first LCD TV as well as my first HDTV. I am using standard Dish network and from the research that I did this TV seems to have the best standard definition out there. That being said, the SD picture still looks better on my 19" tube TV. I went into buying this knowing that the picture on cable may look worse. Using the 'View 2' ratio it cuts a little from the top and bottom (hardly noticeable) and using the full width of the TV. I purchased the TV from Best Buy online (promotional offer included an up converting 1080i LG DVD player) and had it price matched to Circuit City for roughly $725.

I have not tried this TV out with an HD source yet. The DVD player is currently connected using composite and looks ok, probably very similar to my 3+ year old player. Playing the Wii using the composite looks ok, but again I have not had a chance to buy component cables.

Judging just from my own experience with the TV it seems like a great deal. I probably would not spend much more than 750 on this TV.

As a side note other reviews have mentioned 'bright' lights on the front. These lights (green and red) are no stronger than any other LED on AV equipment. In fact the light is much dimmer than the Dish receiver. As far as any 'clicking' I have not heard any. I also have not had any random menus popping up. I have not had any problems whatsoever with this TV.

I can't comment on any HD signal except for what I saw in store. In store the picture was perfect. It was very clear with clean whites and blacks. When I changed it to SD in the store it looked comparable to what I am seeing using Dish.

1 Star ReviewDO NOT BUY LG PRODUCTS
Strengths: NONE
Weaknesses: TV Stopped working after less the 4 months
Summary: My LCD died after just 3 months. I have had the set out for repair since April and there is no sign of me getting a replacement anytime soon. The 32LC2D model I had is discontinued and the new 32LC7D is not available yet. LG customer service is non existent. Once they have your money they could care less about service. I have spent several hours on the phone with customer service and all they keep doing is making excuses and transferring you to different people. Do yourself a favor and STAY FAR AWAY FROM LG.

Strengths: Bright, sharp picture with easy to use on-screen menu and remote. Very attractive piano black case. The set is very light, only 24 pounds without the 6 pound stand, and easy to assemble
Weaknesses: No side hdmi port and only two rear hdmi ports. This makes it more difficult to connect cables if it is hung on the wall.
Summary: 2008-01-16 06:41:05 The picture is bright and crisp. Controls, including remote, are very clearly set out. The piano black enclosure is quite attractive. It is an excellent choice for a smaller lcd hdtv.

Strengths: Variety of inputs, HD quality
Weaknesses: SD video quality could be better
Summary: I've got the 32" and 37" versions of this tv. Got both for half off so I'm quite happy with them. I did a lot of research before buying it and came to the conclusion it was the right choice. My set up didn't require a 1080p set so I'm good with just the 720p. The HD quality is great, but the SD quality could be better. The variety of inputs in the back is great. Multiple of HDMI, Component, Composite, a VGA for television. I've got this hooked up to my media center tv and all is good. Would recommend to all if you can get a good deal on it.

3 Star ReviewSolid performance at a reasonable price
Strengths: Very thin cabinet, excellent navigation, good value
Weaknesses: Reds not quite right, sound could be better
Summary: Setup was extremely easy. The quality of the cabinet and remote are comparable to sets costing much more. This is one of the thinist cabinets I've seen. Picture quality is very nice although red's with out of the box settings are darker than you'd expect. I got the LG hoping for better sound than a 32" Element LCD TV I picked up for Christmas, but although it's definitely an improvement over the "cheap" sound of the Element, the LG audio range doesn't seem to handle low frequencies very well and still falls short on the audio quality I'd like. We have it setup in our bedroom where a theater audio system just doesn't work well and really need to rely on the built in speakers. Have used the LG with a Sony upconverting DVD player and compared results with a portable DVD attached and found that an upconverting player really didn't add a whole lot of improvement in resolution. I think you'll find that unless you use a true HD DVD player the TV does a respectable job in simulating HD from a non HD source.

I paid about $600 at Circuit City that included a $100 discount from Comcast for subscribing to their HD service and feel that for it's $699 price the LG is a pretty good value overall.
