Strengths: Picture. All around quality impresses everyone from videophiles to family. Panasonic brand and service.
Weaknesses: A little slow to come on.
Summary: Our TV showed up and was wonderful. 4 days later we had terrible solarization problems. The picture was nearly unwatchable! To me this was an excellent thing because it gave me an opportunity to experience truly excellent customer support. All Panasonics apparently come with Panasonic's Plasma Concierge service. No waiting on hold. Knowledgeable staff. And they had a repairman on site within 48 hours and that repairman went ahead and replaced most of the boards in the TV just to make sure the problem did not re-occur. He wouldn't even accept a tip as he said he was a Panasonic employee and that was enough!
Great service aside the TV looks great. I looked long and hard for a great HDTV and this has met all my expectations. I am exceptionally pleased with how well it handles Standard Definition TV. Coming from a tube TV I often found that some of the nicest LCD HDTVs had lacking Standard TV images. Also after doing a great deal of research I found that though LCDs seem to be all the rage these days, Plasmas offer better pictures, better prices, and all the bad things people spout out about plasma TVs are mostly myths (they last just as long as any other TV and no longer have burn-in problems).
I also think this TV is really easy to use. Everything is simple, everything makes sense and I think it would be a great TV for people who are not super tech savvy. In this same respect I think the remote control is actually rather nice. To me I would call its heaviness a feeling of sturdiness and quality.
Lastly the TV is beautiful and I highly suggest mounting it on the wall to really show it off.
I would highly recommend this TV to anyone looking to enter the world of HDTV.

Strengths: Best tv I ever own, Great Picture
Weaknesses: Would like to lock in aspect ratio for regular programs and HD programs with the remote
Summary: The best picture I've seen for a 42" inch plasma tv.I've checked most other 42" models none where ever better. You can't go wrong owning this HDTV.I've reschered all others on line and found this is the best 42" tv for it's price.

Strengths: Excellent picture quality; easy to use remote; simple menu display; stock 4 speaker system packs a punch.
Weaknesses: -No DVI port, only VGA. Limited range remote.
Summary: I bought this TV due to its impressive CNET ratings and I have yet to be disappointed. The picture quality is crisp, bright, and full of details. The remote is simplistic and easy to use as well as the on-screen menu options. I was going to buy a sound system, but I'm reconsidering due to the impressive stock speaker system (4 speakers).
My only qualms is that you have to reset the time if the TV is unplugged. Also, I wished that they would have added a DVI monitor port in addition to the VGA Port. I would have liked to take full advantage of my macbook pro's video capabilities.

Strengths: Picture especially with sports and auto racing.
Weaknesses: TV is heavy - make sure you have help whether putting on a wall or on the supplied stand.
Summary: I did alot of research on TV's and this one is by far the best. The picture is the better than any other that I have seen. Football and NASCAR are unbelieveable on this set. I have an Onkyo surround system but the stock speakers are terrific.
I had reservations about buying a TV online but was pleased when I found out that they ship all their TV's by a special shipping company that specializes in this. All TV's are shipped with an indicator that let's you know if it has been dropped. They also stay until you unpack the TV for inspection (which takes 5 minutes max).
I highly recommend this TV and buydig.com.

Strengths: Picure and Sound!
Weaknesses: Time between channel switch.
Summary: Face it, the two things you want out of a tv are a great picture and great sound. This Plasma has plenty of both. So much so that I do not even turn on my stereo for movies!
The channels do take an extra second or two to change, but in the grand scheme of things that is minor! If you are on the fence between plasma and lcd as I was, go plasma, all the stories of glare, room darkness needed are a thing of the past with this set. The best thing the salesman told me was simply let your eyes tell you what tv looks best, not reviews like this. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, and this set is a beauty!

Strengths: The picture clarity and stereo sound are excellent. I searched for months and even waited a while after selecting this model.
Weaknesses: It's much heavier than I expected along with the fact that it's one inch too wide for my current stand.
Summary: I started looking for a high definition television about a year ago prior to the Superbowl. I'm happy I waited, because I like the size and variety of connections such as a tuner and PC. Also, it worked right out the box as soon as I had it assembled and plugged into the wall and my satellite dish. I think I got it for a good price and found it fairly easy to setup. It's a good choice if you want a television under 50 inches.

Strengths: Great Picture Color and Clarity. Great 1080p picture. Blacks are the best I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ve seen outside of the Pioneer line. Great sound
Weaknesses: A little bit heavy for the size makes it a kind of difficult to mount.
Summary: Overall this is one of the best plasmas I could find. With the 200 installation rebate this was really a steal since I got it about 1000 dollars cheaper then best buy had it.

Strengths: Great Picture (HD, Standard and DVD), 1080p, Easy to use Remote, Nice overall design
Weaknesses: Only 2 HDMI connections
Summary: Have had this Panasonic just about 2 weeks now. I have really enjoyed this new TV. Setup is simple and the picture quality is outstanding. Watching sports has never been better. Sound is also good compared to other sets. You just cannot go wrong in purchasing this TV.

Strengths: Perfect HD picture, Very Good SD picture, Very Good DVD picture, Deep Blacks, 1080p, Great speakers, easy to use remote, and anti-glare coating. Sexy Design.
Weaknesses: No anti-burn-in modes, and glossy black frame shows finger prints (but if you don't touch it you won't have that problem).
Summary: 2007-07-04 20:04:17 I haven't hooked this TV up to a 1080p source yet, but I don't need to. Watching 1080i programs are amazing with this sets crystal clear picture and deep blacks. I can't wait to get my PS3 so I can watch Blu-Ray movies on this. A lot of people say that the 1080p will not make a difference on such a small screen, but I would have to believe that the picture will be better than my regular DVD player.

Weaknesses: Anti-reflection is good, but could be better.

Strengths: Excellent quality picture, sharp, clear color contrast. Good speaker sound. Easy setup and program.
Weaknesses: Slow turning on and changing channels. There seems to be a problem with the green tint which seemed to resolve itself on the third day.
Summary: We started looking for a plasma and/or LCD TV 6 months ago. Based on reviews from audio/video magazines and visiting several stores, this plasma TV was the best based on reviews, picture quality and price. Anti-reflection is good but there is room for improvement. We are extremely pleased with this TV.

Strengths: clear picture, good sound,
Weaknesses: not simple to set up and program
Summary: Once we hooked up the TV, we were very pleased. It is as advertised; a stunning picture, sharp and clear with good contrast and color. We are also pleasantly surprised with the sound quality. This is our first widescreen set, so we are still experimenting with the various aspect options for viewing. Initial impressions are very favorable for this set.

Strengths: Currently the only 1080p plasma on the market at this size, deeper blacks and richer color than LCDs (and cheaper!), Panasonic's Plasma Concierge Service
Weaknesses: No anti-burn-in features
Summary: I did my research before settling for a plasma. I knew I wanted a 42", but also 1080p. This set fit the bill, perfectly. Don't believe what you hear the "experts" say about it being mathematically impossible to tell the difference at this size between 720p and 1080p, when viewing from a comfortable distance. I can tell you, this TV proves that math doesn't tell the whole story. You will see the difference. I do, and I am very happy! The price, the deep blacks, and the rich color put it heads and shoulders above any LCD. And Panasonic's customer service is second to none.

Strengths: Excellent picture quality, sharp looking, good audio, functional remote
Weaknesses: input functions could be better designed
Summary: Did a lot of research before buying this one. This is rated #2 next to #1 Pioneer, I have to agree since the picture is superb.
There's really not much to complain about the 700U series except that when trying to go to different inputs, you have to scroll down a list. Panasonic should have a quick recall or switch/last button on the remote to go between components.
Great TV with great picture quality.

Strengths: Excellent picture and sound, DVI input
Weaknesses: Can't do 1080p over component
Summary: At first I was disappointed because this TV wouldn't display 1080p with my Xbox 360 over component. I was able to exchange my Xbox 360 for an elite with hdmi. All is good now and the picture is amazing. The thing that shocked me the most is that this TV has some serious speakers. Bluray movies look amazing. I also have enjoyed using this TV as HTPC, the DVI input is great if you plan to the TV as HTPC.
