Strengths: Seamless performance
Nifty bezel management software
Weaknesses: Poor set-up documentation
Shipped without an essential firmware update, which you have to call Matrox to get
Summary: I did all the right stuff (powerful graphics card, fast processor, three new identical monitors, etc.), but it still took a call to Matrox to get things working. The documentation that ships with the device is essentially useless. For instance, it doesn't make it clear when, exactly, they want you to install their software. Given that it's a USB device, and Windows' propensity to get picky about this, you feel like you're on your own and hoping for the best. Turns out that wasn't as important as finding out about a firmware upgrade that I found to be essential on my brand new Core2Duo machine. Apparently, the TripleHead2Go as it was shipped to me, didn't have this upgrade. Without it, one, and sometimes two, of my monitors would not get a signal passed through the box. Something to do with the power-on USB sequencing. Once I got the update over email from Matrox, it's been working fine. Chalk it up to early-adopter syndrome. Matrox product support did seem to care, and it wasn't too difficult to get an actual person on the phone. I think it's a great product with a lot of market potential. All Matrox has to do is improve their installation manual and it would be perfect.
