Strengths: Portability, sound, versatility
Weaknesses: lack of pedal, just 15 watts
Summary: This is a great little Marshall amp for a beginner or for people with lack of space or who need easily portability. For it's size, this amp puts out some great sound and to have the chorus, flange, and delay in a built-in digital effects feature is a particularly great bonus (one hand, it's nice to not have to add a bunch of pedals in the way to get these effects, but on the other hand, it would be nice to have the ability to turn them on and off without having to walk over to the amp and do so each time, so an extendable pedal built into the amp would have been nice too). The two channels offer wonderful possibilities for a nice clean (but not all that loud) sound on one and the heavy, loud distortion of the overdrive channel.
The "exclusive FDD (Frequency Dependant Damping) technology" that purports to accurately mimic the way an all-valve amp interacts with a loudspeaker, supposedly gives the MGs a width of sound never before possible in affordable, non-valve amps, is another plus for this tiny wonder as well as the inputs that allow you to play along with music from another source.
I got this amp along with the "Rock Box" package, so it came with Marshall branded picks, tuner, gig bag and cable, all for less than the amp itself usually retails for. I recommend that package if you can find it, particularly if you are starting out on guitar or are buying it for a beginner. It is a great package to accompany this fine amp.
