Summary: 2005-01-31 10:39:12 Logitech X-530 5.1 5-PieceSystem with Subwoofer Speaker
I purchased this 5.1 speaker system based: 1. On customer reviews (highly recommended), and 2. Based on price. The sound from my Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop is poor and barely audible, but using headphones with built-in volume adjustment, the sound is passable, but not great. Enter the Logitech X-530 5.1 5-PieceSystem with Subwoofer.
The system was well packaged, and despite the lack of a users manual, straightforward to setup. The only documentation included with the system can best be described as a small one-page pamphlet (several pages in various languages). More detailed information is available on the system on the Logitech website, so no real complaints there.
I hooked the speakers up to a Philips PSC805/17 Aurilium 5.1-Channel External Sound Processor I purchased specifically for an external sound system for my laptop. I had a few bugs I had to work out to get the system up and running, but that was due to my software – not the speaker system itself.
My setup is in a small room in an apartment building with very thin walls. The bass was so overpowering (I’m sure my neighbors would agree), that I ended up turning the bass volume control on the subwoofer all the way down (off is impossible), and it still vibrated the floor. If you are a big fan of loud, booming bass, then this might turn you on – but it didn’t me. I don’t dare use this sound system after respectable hours, because the bass – even at its lowest setting – would disturb my neighbors. If I didn’t have neighbors, this wouldn’t trouble me, but I do.
I listen mostly to music through my system, and do some minor gaming. The sound quality for this system (considering their low price) is excellent. That being said, I noticed that the treble (highs) weren’t as bright as I had hoped, but they were passable. The mid-range was virtually non-existent. Overall, for music listening, I found the system too heavy on the bass, not bright enough on the highs, and very muddled mid-range. Even with my small area, the rear speaker cords are far too short without buying extending cables, so I ended up not using the rear two speakers.
By the tone of my review, I guess this is the part where you would expect to see my “one to two star” rating of this system. Not so. For the price, you get a speaker system that is amazing – again, “for the price”. I don’t know of a better system out there in this price range ($50 - $60). These speakers delivered much better sound than their price would lead you to expect, but fall short of the “raves” I have read about this system.
In summary, this system is a tremendous value; offers decent sound and are not unattractive. I give them 4 stars (out of 5) for delivering so much more than similarly priced systems. I’m very satisfied with my purchase.

Strengths: Awesome clarity and overall rich sound. I was blown away when I first turned the 5.1 on wow!
Weaknesses: Some slight reverb from midddle speaker if the sound is not configured correctly, but it can be fine tuned and fixed.
Summary: 2004-12-14 11:34:52 I bought this system due to its price and how well others said it worked in reguards to its price. Let me tell you I was NOT let down. This system works great. The clarity power and rich sound put you into any video game or movie you may be watching on your computer. This has to be the best buy for my money that I have ever made!

Strengths: The sound quality is Great. Setup was easy. Speakers look Great.
Weaknesses: Cable lengths for rear speakers was about two feet short for my needs. I used in-line audio connectors to get the extra lenght I needed.
Summary: I am very pleased with these speakers. They are the best set of computer speakers I own. They beat my Logitech z640, my Creative 4.1 surround sound and my Dell 5650 (piece of junk)speakers. The overall sound quality, tone, and bass are outstanding. I was amazed to get such good quality from a $50 set of speakers. Well worth the money!

Strengths: Great sound quality. Cheaper than other similar speaker system. Fascinating design. Powerful subwoofer
Weaknesses: No remote control. No game console adapter. No treble control. Insufficient manual contents. Volume control doesn’t work for using a headphone.
Summary: I have been using an aiwa mini component connected with a computer for music and movie in my small room. Now I’ve turned the component off and always turn the speakers on. Its sound is getting better than first time as playing music every single day. If I locate at the optimal position of the speaker system zone while seeing a movie, surround sound is really great and more than my expectation. If you install newer sound card driver and adjust the settings of plug-ins for music player utilities (I recommend Foobar2000), you can experience more rich sound.

Strengths: Nice 5.1 system for this price. Crispy clear sound and thunderous bass.
Weaknesses: No remote, cable length is not enough for a large room.
Summary: Price and quality is unbeatable. I was looking for a system under 100 bucks. Did a little research and end up in X530 and saved 50 bucks on my budget.

Strengths: 1. Beautiful unconventional design of satellite speakers
2. Amazin sound quality
3. Great looks
4. Delivers what it claims
5. Overall, great value for money (especially at the price it is placed)
Weaknesses: None. I am pretty satisfied with the speaker system..cause I have had a couple of speaker systems in the past and I know a good one when I see and hear it. This system is a poor man's dream come true.
Summary: This is it Ladies and Gentlemen. I absolutely recommend buying this system if you're crunched on those dollars and crave a good sound system. I'm a student right now and can't afford to buy those awesome speaker systems costing 300$ +. So all my fellow buddies, if you're in a similar state, don't get disheartened...Logitech has answered your prayers :)

Strengths: Sound quality within this price range.
Weaknesses: NONE
Summary: Was able to compare this one with my Creative T5400 5.1 speaker system and all i can say is: this is a lot better.
Rear speakers still got dual drivers. Two-year warranty is a plus. The sub is smaller than i expected but still very powerful. Will try to connect this on my Yamakawa DVD player and will give update of the result.

Strengths: Great sound, low price, good looks. A winning combination.
Weaknesses: Some say that that it too quiet. I'm not trying to blast it through my entire house so it works just fine.
Very happy.
Only problem is trying to find cheap cartridges
Summary: 2004-11-28 21:57:54 I bought this through amazon.com. A snap to set up and the speakers look pretty cool...and the sound even better. I have read many reviews on the internet and everyone has been saying that this is the best deal out there. I definatly got more then I expected and would recommend these speakers to anyone.
They are wall mountable which is really nice.
Extremely impressed.

Strengths: excellent sound quality; nice looking; convenient wall mounting; low price
Weaknesses: The cable of the rear speakers coule be longer
Summary: My medica center PC with X-530 and Audigy 2 ZS sound card delivers super sound for music, DVD movie and game. The power is high enough for I am living in an apartment and I don't want to bother my neighbours. At full power, the whole room is full of rich sound. Though my PC front port, I can connect my MP3 and CD player to the system to take advantage of its sound quality and power.

Strengths: 1. Serious thump-age from subwoofer 2. Ease of setup 3. Sleek design 4. Unbelievably low priced
Weaknesses: None whatsoever
Summary: The only thing that would've made these speakers a better deal is if they would've been "free". I'm amazed at the sounds that I'm hearing now from music Cd's and games. I have yet to push output level past 30-40% because it disturbs the wife too much - from the other side of the house! Don't waste your money buying the high priced brands that the stores are selling. You won't be disappointed in buying these speakers.

Strengths: Sound, bass, basically everything seems to hit the nail on the head in what I was looking for.
Weaknesses: None thus far
Summary: I had previously owned a set of Creative 4.1 speakers which gave me problems with the volume control, it would raise and lower itself seemingly whenever it pleased. I purchased these Logitech speakers and decided once they were hooked up I was done ever buying Creative speakers again. These X-530 speakers are amazing for the price. You get the best performance for the price that is available anywhere on the net or in a store. I picked these speakers up from Monarch Computer Systems for $58 w/ shipping and it was definitely worth the price. I would absolutely recommend these speakers to anyone who is looking for a great set of surround sound speakers and doesn't want to have a car payment price for them.

Strengths: Very good sound range. Dynamic bass control effectively minimizes boominess and thumping.
Weaknesses: All controls are on front-right speaker which connects to the sub using a 15-pin DSUB connector. This speaker also connects directly to the audio source via 3 stereo jacks putting a lot of weight on it
Summary: Awesome speaker set for the price range it's in! I got mine for free using a gift card I got from work but the retail price (after GST & PST in Ontario) was just under $150. That's considered expensive for these speakers. I've seen them advertised elsewhere between $70 - $130.
Anyway, I was very pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of these speakers! I figured they wouldn't sound too much better than my old ones (Cambridge Soundworks FPS1000 4.1) which I bought several years ago. Boy was I wrong! These speakers are a huge improvement in every area, but admittedly, I don't have a huge basis for comparison, just my old speakers which I had patched up extensively over the years. It was comparable to the x-530 for the time. They really served their purpose well!
One gripe that I have that no one else seems to mention is that the front-right (control) speaker connects to the sub with what appears to be a 15-pin DUB connector. The manual says that you can't extend this cable or you'll damage the system!
I honestly cannot see how a simple extension cable (that uses all the pins, like the speaker does) can damage the internal circuits of the system!? It doesn't make sense!
I tried it once but being the fool that I sometimes am, I had left the speakers plugged-in and turned on when I did this. I did this in the morning just to see if the VGA extension cable I had would fit the connection. It did.
When I came back home from work that day my speakers would not turn on. I'm not sure if this is due to my fiddling with the extension cable or just an unfortunate coincidence and I had a faulty product. Either way, I'm afraid to try again without hearing some testimonials on the subject. It was a hassle to get it replaced with the store and I'd rather not carry it back on the subway to the store again.
Has anyone else successfully extended the range of their front-right control speaker? I'd appreciate feedback very much. Thanks!

Strengths: Excellent sound quality for the money.
Weaknesses: None to speak of.
Summary: I purchased this speaker system based on previous Logitech products I have owned and on customer reviews. This was an upgrade on my new desktop's OEM speakers...WOW, what a difference. Installation was painless and everything needed for a 5.1 set up is included. Speaker cable length was adequate for my set-up, the rear speakers had length to spare. Once I downloaded the latest 5.1 driver for my sound card, I was ready to go. I immediately noticed the room-filling sound when the Windows start-up tune rumbled to life. The sound quality is simply amazing from a system at this price point. I mainly use this for gaming and I'm very satisfied with the output of this attractive product from Logitech!
