The platic broke sending the cover crashing and in an attempt to catch it my arm was severly burned by the scalding stainless steel. It has taken 5 weeks for me to recover from the burn. Dont buy this product, they will not replace the lid which is what needs to be done and charge too do so even after I was burned. Summary: Lid components break very quickly. Hinge broke after 2 uses, lid handle after 3, and hinge connector after 5 uses. We had our other crock-pot for 15 years without a problem. I was excited to find a crockpot that locked for easy transport, but the lid always wobbled and finally broke at the hinge. Made with very cheap plastic. I used it maybe 4 times. Weaknesses: Poor quality handles, no replacement parts Summary: This chinese made Rival slow cooker broke on the second use. The handle was so poorly made that it broke easily. Parts aren't available for this new cooker so it is now worthless. The design doesn't let the glass lid sit on top of the crock allowing steam to escape and the food dries out. You have to add water while cooking. I wouldn't trust it enough to let it cook while at work or away from the house. Food could dry out and burn easily.
