So close to a blockbuster
Strengths: Good concept, good graphics, can get addicting
Weaknesses: Sometimes game objectives aren't clear, and it gets VERY frustrating
Summary: Stuntman Ignition puts you in a variety of different movie scenarios, where you are the stuntman in charge of making sure that the scene goes off according to the director's vision. In many ways, it's a great idea for a game, and this game both helps the series finally achieve some of its potential, while at times it can be incredibly frustrating. The game's graphics and sound have really improved in this "next-gen" outing. There is a lot of detail around the various sets and a lot of stuff going on. The only problem is this can sometimes make it really hard to know where to go. You're given some basic ideas by the director, but in general, there is a LOT of trial and error. Need to drive through lava? Good luck figuring out exactly which little sliver of ground they MEAN for you to drive through. And for each scene, once you miss too many points, you have to do it over again. If you're having a bad session and just not getting where you're expected to go, expect to play the scene over.. and over... and over.. and over again. Depending on your personality and the mood you're in while playing, this is either incredibly addicting or incredibly frustrating/repetitive. If you're a perfectionist, this is probably your game! That said, when the game works, it works well. However, a little more instruction before each scene would probably help. I can only assume they think proper instructions would make it too easy, but the trial and error aspect of the game just makes it frustrating. I'm giving it 3 stars- it probably deserves 3.5 (which I can't give) but I don't believe it quite deserves a 4. With some tweaking, this could've been a GREAT game, as it really presents a unique driving experience, but as it is, it falls just short of the mark.
