Strengths: Name, Quality, price.
Weaknesses: Built-in speakers stink
Summary: Looked around for a bargain....which in this type of purchase pays off if you have the time to shop around. Staples.com had this for $199 and then an additional $50 rebate. Free shipping, too. Timed it right....so you have to be patient. Would not have spent the retail price, though....was looking a Viewsonic and Acer for around $175...so this was a bargain at $149 + tax.

I worked for NEC America and know the quality of their product cannot be surpassed. It costs a bit more for NEC products...and that's what put them out of the U.S market with their Home Electronics Division (TV's, etc.) a few years back. Thw higher price/quality could not compete with cheaper manufacturers.

This day and age....the specs for all the monitors are pretty similar in the price range of 150-250.....so I went for the name...and found a great price. This monitor is considered a "Business" monitor...but I use it at home without issue.

Built-in speakers are very "tinny" sounding...so if you already have nice speakers hooked up...you may want to keep them.

This is a "plug and play" monitor....so it detects itself and installs the proper driver. I have an older Compaq P.C., and it did not detect itself...and used the existing driver for my old monitor. Still looked good....but when I went to the NEC website and installed the correct one...you could definately see the difference.

Look around. If you don't need a monitor right away...you'll save yourself some money....thank's to sites like Pricegrabber, etc.

Strengths: - Vivid color - Small footprint - Strong performance/price value
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: I work in a multi-tasking environment where I need to refer to documents from 2 or 3 programs at the same time. When combined with the Windows XP and the freeware ReSizer program, I am able to have 2, 3 or even 4 documents on screen and active at the same time -- without the hassle of maximizing/minimizing a screen (unless absolutely necessary).

The NEC 19" monitor is large enough, with a clear enough picture even when segmented into smaller windows, that I can navigate quickly between the various windows via mouse without missing a beat.

I couldn't be happier.
