Sony Vaio FZ 140E
Strengths: Great design, fast processor, thin and lightweight
Weaknesses: Windows Vista operating system
Summary: Sony has been approached by me about the slow operation of Windows Vista on this system. The computer crashes all the time due to Windows Vista software. The promised increase in speed is untrue. The promise of great graphics is contrived and often fraught with downloads that have to be done first to get the video to open up. The X-Rays the hospital gave me on CD could not be opened because...Vista what else. I cannot recommend this laptop at this time due to Sony not providing this in the XP format. If Sony does this, it will greatly improved the product.

Strengths: Overall as a programmer i really find Sony Vio as a good deal
Weaknesses: Inbuilt Speaker Problem is major problem with this PC, and it keyboard needs to make change so that programmers don't have to attach extra keyboard...
Summary: I like using Sony Vio as it provides much more stuff with really less price... but as a programmer i don't like the keyboard and for me Inbuilt speaker is not working, but when i browse thru the net i come to know many more are facing same prob. and no solution is available by sony....
But, other than tht i like Sony Vio and suggest other to puchase for the stuff it provide for such a less price.

Strengths: Lightweight and stylish and powerful, speedy processor, wireless is fast (It has wireless-N technology), the screen is beautiful, Inbuilt Camera & Microphone are good, no problems with Windows Vista.
Weaknesses: Battery life is average, even with brightness down. Hard drive spins at only 4200rpm. No built-in Bluetooth support. Too much useless software installed.
Summary: I bought this laptop from Circuit City for good price and it’s been a month. I had to take a tuff decision between Toshiba and Sony laptops, but finally I went for a branded laptop and I m very happy with it so far. This laptop looks very cute, Lightweight and stylish. No too much heating over the usage. Only battery life disappoints me a bit. It has wireless n-technology, very good integrated graphics card from Intel. Graphics are very good when playing games; the screen is beautiful, Excellent Camera and Microphone Quality. I have no problems yet with Vista. It played DVDs quite nicely. S-video works really well. One other thing disappoints me is it has no in-built Bluetooth support and there is no finger print reader. Only 3 USB Ports instead of 4 like many other laptops in this price range. Speaker quality is very good. Mouse key is hard and noisy. It has too much software’s installed in it, I had to uninstall all of them as they are useless for me, and it took a while to do it.
Although I did come up with more cons than pros, I can easily work around each of the cons, and this laptop is still wonderful. I would strongly recommend it.

Strengths: - Good performance, even on power saver mode
- Very bright display (I normally use it at half brightness because it is actually TOO bright sometimes)
- Beautiful laptop
Weaknesses: Too much useless software. It took me a few days to configure it, Battery life is average, Mouse buttons are noisy and hard to press
Summary: Works great, I just hope that Sony would stop loading their laptops with tryware. I've had this computer for about a month now, and really like it. It's light and quite portable, but more than enough power for me. I mostly use it for word processing, spreadsheets, internet and email, though I installed a couple of games on it (Mechcommander II, Galactic Civilizations II) that have worked better than on previous machines due to the increased RAM.
The only complaint is that it does have a lot of bloatware/crapware on board that's not necessary, and is quite annoying. If anyone has any tips as to how to determine what is essential, and what can/should be killed off, that would be appreciated. I've gotten rid of the obvious stuff, but am a bit nervous about getting rid of the Sony related programs, lest I cull something that controlls something important (e.g., DVD).
Overall, though, 4 Stars. My last computer was a Vaio as well...when browsing for the replacement, it came down to the Toshiba and Sony, and based on the good experience I had with the last one, went for the brand once more.

Strengths: 200 GB Hard Drive;
Wireless a/b/g/n;
Screen Quality/Resolution;
Light Weight;
Processor Speed
Weaknesses: Speakers Volume;
Hard Drive Speed;
No built-in Bluetooth support
Summary: I purchased this laptop two weeks ago and it is excellent. Built in Camera’s quality is good though Microphone is not that good. I like the Screen Quality of this laptop. I have used many laptops but this laptop’s screen resolution is really good. Processor speed is very good. 200GB Hard Drive is useful but the speed 4200 rpm is less compared to other Hard Drives. A/V Instant Mode is useful and Play/Stop/Pause buttons are nice. Remote to operate the A/V instant Mode would have been good option but it is not included.Pre-installed software like Spiderman Movie etc. is really difficult to uninstall. Speaker volume is not good. I can barely hear the songs if I use half of the max available volume.
Although there are some issues but this laptop is still wonderful.

Strengths: Great computer for the price... With 2GB of memory and the Intel 7100, there is no waiting around for applications to load or run. I upgraded from a 2.4GHz laptop and there was no comparison.
Weaknesses: Comes with "free" spam... junkie software and offers that took me a day to delete.
Summary: The Media Center is "way cool"... The weight, size, and screen size are just right as a road warrior.
I was more than pleased with the screen resolution and processor speed... I may end up using my desktop as a file server.
Note: Most of my graphics software did not make the cut to Windows Vista and required newer versions to run correctly (Corel Paintshop, Adobe Elements, Nikon Capture NX, etc.).
Bottom line: Windows Vista gets a C- and it was a pain to move applications from XP. After a day of ripping out the "free" trial software, the laptop is great.

Strengths: 200gb hard drive, 2gigs of rams, great processor, and great slim look
Weaknesses: wish it gave the option of going to XP instead of vista home
Summary: this is a great computer for the price. I really like the integration of the all so powerful core 2 duo in this computer with the nice and fancy looks. But the only disappointment for me is that it did not allow the choice of xp operating system, vista is ok but it is not one that I trust just yet and it does take time to get use to. But other than that, this is a very good computer.

Sony definitely loosing it!
Strengths: Sleek, robust looks, In built cam, media center
Weaknesses: No usefull softwares provided, battery backup, crappy speakers, 2GB RAM is no use, screen view angle, bluetooth, infrared, screen resolution
Summary: Its been 20 days that i got this machine and i am already regretting it. Although the looks and outlook is pretty good, configuration sounds pretty hi tech, but nothing is worth it. I thought Sony would have kept their screen and sound, but looks like they are loosing it too. All in all no point spending 200-300$ extra just for looks.
The Good: Looks are good, no doubt about it, looks much sleeker and finished as compared to others. Ofcourse you are paying for it :) Screen is very bright.
The Bad/Ugly: Too many trial version softwares that eat up all the RAM. Even without starting any extra software mem consumption is 1.3 G already. You need to spend atleast 2 days to figure out the best way to free up memory and keep the fingers crossed that you don't end up removing some driver or required software.
From the first day itself the right bottom corner of screen has been black.
Screen viewing angle is too small, although screen is bright and glossy. Dell has better viewing angles.
No bluetooth, infrared.
Speakers don't have the Sony clarity.
The touchpad stops working when run with Youtube full screen.
After system comes back from sleep, it looses all screen brightness settings. You wil have to restart to retore the settings.
Well these are some of the things missing, will keep on updating in due time. keep checking

Strengths: large 200 GB drive, fast 800 MHz bus, looking to the future: draft 802.11n wireless built in, ram upgradeable to 4 GB, 64 bit processor
Weaknesses: only 3 USB ports (that's the industry standard but honestly we need more), hard drive slower than what one might be used to, not as good looking as other Sony laptops
Summary: This laptop has the best features in it's price range, yet it's less expensive than most other choices. It has all of the numbers I wanted: 2 GB ram, 2 MB L2 cache, 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 800 MHz front side bus. This is a fast machine and you notice the performance difference. The hard drive is very big at 200 GB, possibly too big since it operates at 4,200 rpm instead of the common 5,400 rpm for hard drives of 160 or 120 GB. This was mostly an issue when transferring all of the files from my old computer, but it shouldn't be an issue after that. The only other thing is that it's design is a little old fashioned with the silver/black split on the keyboard, and the quick launch/media buttons making it look like some old VCR. I wish it was slicker. Overall it's got great capabilities for a more than decent price.

Strengths: Compact Size, Slim Design,
Weaknesses: None So Far
Summary: Bought this superb laptop at great price after a good rebate on the price. Windows vista took a bit of time to set up and since this was my first time using this operating system did not hurry things. The keyboard is well designed and very easy and comfortable to use. The screen resolution is excellent. The built in web cam delivers crystal clear pictures although one has to be pretty close to the inbuilt microphone for a clear recording. Still getting used to this notebook but all in all a very great buy and no regrets at all.

Strengths: Powerful processor (C2D 1.8GHz)
Lots of RAM (2GB RAM)
Huge storage (200GB hard drive)
Great Screen (XBrite LCD)
Light (under 6lbs)
Weaknesses: For the price tag I would assume it comes with a Bluetooth card. Also, Sony went a little cheap on this model hard drive is 4200rpm... put 5400rpm at least! Another thing is that video card is shared
Summary: I certainly recommend this laptop. It has power, looks and name. Very thin and light (under 6lbs).. Great looking design and lots of power. Core 2 Duo (1.8Ghz) and 2GB work perfectly wit Vista Premium. Looks better than my existing Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop.

Strengths: Everything very powerful in a very small package.
Weaknesses: bluetooth and optional xp would be nice
Summary: If it took all of you 1-2 days to reemove the preloaded software you don't deserve such a powerful laptop. Know what you're talking about before posting. XP would be a nice option since all the bugs are yet to be worked out of vista. Over All AWESOME Computeer highly recommended
