Strengths: Easy to install and setup, excellent sound quality; looks great under the kitchen cabinets
Weaknesses: none found so far
Summary: 2005-03-07 17:58:19 This is a compact "space saver" kitchen radio CD with excellent sound. Notable features: megabass; backlit clock; alarm feature; 15 presets; and a DST feature. The install kit uses a clever mounting system with adjustable pegs that can adjust to any height. While reception could be a bit better; it might help to extend the AC line cord. Overall, another recommended product from Sony.

3 Star ReviewExperiencing radio station "overlap"
Strengths: decent sound - nice style
Weaknesses: No matter what frequency you tune to under about 95.0 Mhz and under, the selected station is "over run" by one strong station. No other radio in the house has this problem.
Summary: Overall - this unit adds great ambiance to the kitchen area - I was not expecting symphonic sound surround from an undercabinet unit - howevr the signal overlap means we cannot listen most of our favorite stations.

CD playback is great - and the number of FM presets is great.

If I cannot solve the problem - I may look for another unit.

Strengths: Installation was a snap. I am really impressed with the sound quality. Looks good and takes up little space. CD works well too.
Weaknesses: The sound on the weather band is a little weak but is still audible.
Summary: This a great radio for the price. I would highly reccomend it. It is the best under counter radio that I have ever purchased. The sound quality really exceeded my expectations. The remote works well and the timer and memo feature are also very convenient. What a buy!!!

3 Star ReviewThis is a solid, fairly heavy unit that is simple ...
Strengths: Daylight Savings Time button - brilliant! Easy to mount. Simple to operate. Decent Sound for a kitchen radio.
Weaknesses: Sound is only decent, not great. But, like I said, it's a kitchen radio.
Summary: This is a solid, fairly heavy unit that is simple to use and features a nice, digital tuner. The Daylight Savings Time button is great: press it and the clock "springs ahead" one hour; press it again and the clock "falls back" one hour.

The CD player has several play and repeat modes, including shuffle.

The cord wrap on the back is nice and the cord clip that sticks to the wall.

Strengths: The speakers produce really great sound. Very compact and very attractive design. I love the remote and the preset stations. It saves me time to just turn it on from across the room.
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: I got this for my husband so he can listen to his music in the kitchen. When he installed it, I find myself using it more than him. I set the preset stations and it's so easy. If I want to listen to the news, push the button and it comes through so clear. Really great sound out of such a small system. I can get the weather with just a push of the button. We both really love it!

Strengths: Affordable, compact, with nice design.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: Have looked at other under the cabinet CD players both less and more expensive. This one cost $79.99 and has all the features I require. Would make an excellent Christmas or birthday gift. Looks great under the cabinet.

Strengths: Looks good, easy to install, simple to operate.
Weaknesses: Sound quality is something you would expect of a kitchen appliance. Wish it had an appliance outlet w/ timer.
Summary: I have been very pleased with this purchase. The unit was easy to install and the sound is pretty good (but not great). Since it is used in the kitchen, it would be nice if it had a timer and an outlet w/ timer for appliances. Overall, I'm very happy.

3 Star ReviewOther than issues with the radio function of this ...
Strengths: Backlit clock Easy setting of 10 FM radio stations and 5 AM radio stations Looks good installed under cabinet It has a cd player! Good quality for the money.
Weaknesses: Radio stations can be quirky if other electrical equipment running near it. Analog volume knob located on side of unit can't see setting at a glance. Speakers are so so quality. No remote control a
Summary: Other than issues with the radio function of this unit I'm quite satisfied with its operation. I would probably buy it again if I had tested before buying. I don't think it needs to be a full blowns stereo system in the kitchen. Just a little music while you're burning lunch or dinner is just fine. Not exactly the head of the pack but for under $70 you really can't find a better deal.

Strengths: Sony Brand, EZ installation, sound quality
Weaknesses: CD tray seems somewhat fragile
Summary: I purchased the Sony ICF-CD513 for my wife for Christmas due to several online reviews that I read. Although it cost slightly more than comparable models by competitors, I was relying on the Sony brand for quality. Installation was easy thanks to the included drill template. Spacers were adjustable to allow for counter lips of varying length. The unit is stylish and the sound quality is quite good. The only potential problem that I see is the CD tray, which seems somewhat fragile. A slot loading player would seem to make more sense in this application. Nevertheless I hope to receive many years of service from this unit.
