Strengths: Fast Secure DD-WRT flashable
Weaknesses: Antenna cannot be changed (you have to void warranty to do so) Single low gain antenna
Summary: Amazing router. Didn't really test stock firmware as I immediately flashed it to DD-WRT (be sure to follow steps exactly). I've had no problems with this router. Only drawback is that this does not have a changeable antenna and this antenna is a low gain one. I got it for $36 and I thought that was a good price for it.

Strengths: flashable to use ddwrt (but currently no other firmwares); frequently on sale and pretty cheap after rebates
Weaknesses: non-removable antenna; plastic housing feel cheap; you can still do it, but there's no included vertical stand mount; very short cat5 cable included
Summary: this is a very solid router. this is the replacement for the WHR-G54S (imho the whrg54s is superior: it feels more solid, has better LEDS and ports, includes a vertical stand mount, and can be flash to multiple 3rd party firmware), which is getting harder to find. technologically, this router supposedly has a faster cpu and better wifi transmission than the whr-g54s. i have both of them, but still prefer the whr-g54s. though i feel that tomato is a better firmware, ddwrt is currently the only option available for the whrg125. i have the whrg125 in wds configuration with the whrg54s that has tomato on it. if you can deal with using ddwrt (some functions such as pppoe are currently broken as v24 is still in beta), this router is great. i have no experience with the default buffalo firmware. if you can still find the whrg54s and don't mind paying a bit more, i think it its a better value. still this is a great and inexpensive product that should fit the needs of basic and advance users alike.

Strengths: Strong signal, classy white construction, DD-WRT compatible, fast CPU
Weaknesses: antenna feels easily breakable
Summary: Purchased this router on sale at the perfect time - right before moving into my new apartment. Flashed it with DD-WRT after a few tries, set up my old settings in a few minutes. The wireless signal is significantly stronger than that of my old Linksys WRT54G. Whereas the Linksys ended up needing to be reset almost every week, this Buffalo has been working perfectly well with no problems at all. The only thing I would nitpick about this router is the antenna - there's only one, it's not replaceable (without doing some serious "modding"), and I have to be careful in handling it, as I'm afraid it might break off. Part of the reason is that it only swivels halfway (180 degrees), but also because the router does feel a bit on the flimsy side.

Strengths: Signal, speed, configurations
Weaknesses: None
Summary: This is a great router. It has great range for wireless devices. The signature Buffalo AOSS feature works flawlessly with AOSS compatible devices like the Nintendo DS/DSLite and Sony PSP. Press the AOSS button on the router and select AOSS on the DS or PSP and your wireless connection is done and secured. Can't get any easier than that! This router can also use 3rd party firmware (DD-WRT) for those who seek more functionality. All in all, this is one of the most bang for the buck routers on the market right now. Get one and you won't regret.

Strengths: DD-WRT Flashable unlocking awesome features. "Easy setup with Nintendo DS."
Weaknesses: Antenna is permanent and can't be upgraded to a better one. Wish it had a vertical stand. Feels cheap and breakable. Antenna only swivels 180 degrees instead of the usual 360 degrees.
Summary: Comes with a cool "flat" wire CAT5 cable. Didn't bother with firmware it came with because I'm so used to DD-WRT (using with WRT54G). I got it on sale and it's worth what I paid. Would recommend this to anyone if they can pick it up on sale. DD-WRT makes any router into a great one and this one is no exception. Antenna feels like it'll break with the slightest pressure.

2 Star ReviewNice Router, Not Easy Setup
Strengths: The Wireless G is quick out of the box with the AOSS push button operation. However, connection to wireless networks is not a breeze.
Weaknesses: Not easy to set up!
Summary: I chose this product because of price. It was on a shelf away from the Lynksys, D-Link, and NetGear products- almost like Circuit City was trying to hide it, so I felt sorry for the thing and thought I would give the brand a try. I wish I would have left it at the store... but I still like the little thing. Once I got it set up and going, the wireless router has worked like a charm, but the set up is not as easy as the box describes.

Strengths: Nice look, stable, inexpensive
Weaknesses: antenna doesn't detach
Summary: Purchased this router for my network and after a friend flashed the firmware to dd-wrt i haven't had to touch it since. When someone comes with their notebook, it quickly detects my router and it temporarily connects. My first router and it is working great! Highly recommend it!

Strengths: DD-WRT Flash able, inexpensive, signal strength
Weaknesses: Can't remove antenna, stock firmware
Summary: 2007-12-12 21:13:34 This is one of the best routers out there and definitely better than any current Linksys (ver. 6 and up) as this one can be flashed to DD-WRT. Once you flash the firmware, it will be like having a more expensive router and if you can find it on sale you can get it for less than $30 after rebate. Upgrading to DD-WRT is easy if you follow the instructions found on dd-wrt website (can't post links) go to the forums section and either read and/or join to ask any questions you might have.

Once flashed you can take control of the router and make it work for you. Even for the novice, get this router flashed to dd-wrt and after a few changes (security), you won't ever have to mess with it again. In the end you will have a secure, stable and trouble free router that will work well with your network (if you have multiple computers.)

Strengths: reliable, lots of features
Weaknesses: No Wireless N technology
Summary: My previous router kept dropping my internet connection and had to be reset every few days which caused me many headaches. This buffalo router admin section was packed with features and easy to navigate. I was able to set up the router within minutes of opening the box. Since installation, i had no drops in connection and strong wireless signal from one floor away. Saves me money from buying more advil! Great router!

Strengths: Very nice understated design. Can flash it to use alternative firmwares.
Weaknesses: Transmission power not as good as most MIMO routers out today. Not the best for long range coverage.
Summary: To be honest, I only use the stock firmware on the device for about 5 minutes to make sure it wasn't DOA. Then I went to DD-WRT and downloaded the alternative firmware for this device. Flashing was pretty easy, and I had a router running some really great open source software.

I got a deal with two rebates that chopped the price in half. Circuit City and Buffalo were very good quickly fulfilling the rebates.

If you can get this router at a good price and don't need long-range coverage, get it.

Strengths: 240 MHz cpu, dd-wrt compatible, price, WPA encryption
Weaknesses: no removable antenna
Summary: This is a very good router with dd-wrt firmware upgrade. It can be set up with WDS or as a repeater. The firmware update can be a little tricky but there are a lot of flashing instructions on the web. There are also posts on WDS and repeater setup. Wireless is very stable with minimal drops.

Strengths: Inexpensive. Easy to set up. Works great with DD-WRT.
Weaknesses: Case feels cheap. Non-detachable antenna.
Summary: This is the best router for the price. I never bothered with the original Buffalo firmware. DD-WRT was easy to flash install giving additional capabilities such as WDS and as a repeater. Signal strength is not as good as my other Buffalo WHR-G54S but still good with no disconnects or needing to reboot. The casing feels a bit cheap. The cheap plastic antenna cannot be easily replaced and is non-detachable. Overall, this is a great product.

Strengths: Strong signal, DD-WRT flashable for tons of functions, small size, nice style,
Weaknesses: None
Summary: If you are a regular computer user, you may enjoy the strong signal and smooth connection experience with this router. If you are a computer nerd, you will really appreciate what DD-WRT brings to you after flashing the router with DD-WRT.
