Strengths: 7.1, THX select. Great price. Adequate power.
Weaknesses: 100 W per channel - but ? slightly weak when volume is (excessively) high
Summary: Overall this a very capable AV receiver - well suited for home theater - it provides for 7.1 speakers, A + B speakers, and provides THX select processing - all at a price that is hard to beat. This provides the best price/performance ratio a mid-range home thater. The inputs/ outputs obviously include s-VHS and component. Overall this unit is highly recommended - I would purchase it again!

Strengths: Can't beat the price. Only system I could find with THX under $500. Sounds great. Highly recommend for a mid-range system
Weaknesses: 100W runs warm in an enclosed enviroment. Would recommend buying a small fan to help cool it, if enclosed. Could not program remote to work my JVC VCR or Echostar Satellite receiver.
Summary: Overall, its an excellent system for the price with all the options. I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting a THX system at a mid-range price.

Strengths: DTS(EX), ProLogic II(Ex), Neo6 Mode, Setup options
Weaknesses: 100W of power? Single optical input.
Summary: The simulated 6.1 modes are amazing! It really makes movies come alive. I've got it connected up to JBL speakers and have been really impressed, especially for the price. When setting up, the receiver has some impressive functions, i.e. speaker distance, etc. I wish it had two optical inputs. I can't get digital sound from my PlayStation and TiVo, they both use optical. At full power, it doesn't seem like it's as loud as it should be. Maybe I'm just hard of hearing. I haven't noticed much distortion at higher power levels though, sound stays clean.
