Strengths: best mapping software ever & easy to use
Weaknesses: transfer pocket PC maps & limited functions
Summary: Not any major upgrades from '04, just to get the latest data availble, for GPS or pocket PC it's the not the best solution, best for multiple stops on a route.

Strengths: What a great program! I have been buying it since 1998 and each year it gets just a little better!
Weaknesses: Sometimes I find that banks, stores, restaurant, bars, etc do not exist where or even close to where the program states they are located....
Summary: The main difference between versions is the information gets updated (banks, stores, restaurant, bars, etc.). Therefore I find it important to have the latest version at all times....

Strengths: nice maps, good route finder, route finder works for multiple seuential addresses & highway construction updates
Weaknesses: written directions not always clear & no new street updates between releases
Summary: I am a Realtor and use Streets & trips to plan viewings over the course of a day. The results not only give directions, but also an elapsed time making it easier to schedule appointments and minimizing seller's waiting time.
The maps are generally easy to read and the route marker can easily be dragged if you want to drive a different direction than proposed.
It is also useful for long trips to plan where you will make overnight stops, and you can calculate your gas costs if you update the parameters for your vehicles particulars.
I live in a fast growing area and wish there was an ability to update the map with recent street additions, but I don't believe any of the mapping programs do so. If a new street is unknown to the program, I use an on-line mapping site to locate the property. Unforunately online maps do not allow me to map multiple addresses on one map.
I have been using Streets & Trips for years and am happy enough to continue for the forseeable future.

Strengths: Very good offline reference.
Full install required just 1.0 Gb
Good Accuracy
Weaknesses: UI is not user friendly.
Resolution is no so good.
Summary: This is the first time I bought this. After looking at google maps and this , I think the google maps is much better. The user interface for S&T could be substantially improved.
One feature that I like is the "PushPin" - you can add data related to specific location like Home ,office.
At very detailed level the user interface become hazy (it could be issue with my laptop ).
Over all I would recommend this product - when going for a long trip.

Strengths: Simple, quick loading, always available
Weaknesses: Information can be out of date, limited restaurant listings
Summary: I've been using MS Streets and Trips for several years and there have been very few significant changes in it. The last version I used was the 2003 version, so I decided this year to upgrade to 2005.
Since I'm not using GPS support, the only different feature I notice are the arrows that point in the direction of traffic (i.e. for one way streets.) Handy, but I don't know how practical it is for everyday use. (I believe this feature was introduced in the 2004 version.)
Thankfully, MS allows you to do a full install on the hard drive. So when I have my laptop in the car, and don't have an Internet connection, I can still pull up a map quickly. Internet mapping services still have their advantages, but you get much more map and routing flexibility (and no ads) when you use a software product.
Restaurants, like previous versions, still are limited -- only to weird Chinese, Italian, and Steak places -- the categories don't encompass everything, and then if it doesn't fit in one of the categories, it usually doesn't show up on the map.
Overall, well worth it and still an amazing product -- I never imagined 10 years ago that I could find any address (almost) in US and Canada.

Strengths: Easy to use and very accurate.
Weaknesses: Very large program. Up to 1 GB if fully installed. The functions such as pushpins, nearby places, etc... can be a little overwhelming on the map or difficult to easily use.
Summary: 2005-04-20 15:51:27 I recommend Streets and Trips for anyone who travels a lot whether by car or bike. I have been using this for years to find new routes through back roads and it's never been wrong. I use it to find new routes to bike.

Strengths: Good maps and lot of print options that make it easier
Weaknesses: Directions are not always accurate when trying to get around in the city
Summary: I use the program to develop maps for my work crews. All of the maps are in Washington DC and for the most part are very good but at least once per week I get a call that the program called for a turn into traffic in a one way street or a house is not where the program said that it would be. It's been great for maps to weekend getaways to the Poconos and West Virginia, including the road constucion info.

Strengths: being able to find your address from home and where you are going and reversing it. ease of moving map around. can print map or written directions. other sites on your route(malls, gas stations, etc)
Weaknesses: For my use I can find no weaknesses. i have used it to go to Phoenix and it got me there and home perfectly and I do not go there alone. also other places where I would have had to call for directions
Summary: I love Streets/Trips. I have used it for myself, and my kids to get to places they could not find. We have used the 2002 one forever and I recently bought 2005 to update that one. We looked up all kinds of addresses and it found all of them. Usedit for our daughter and son when they needed to find an address that we never heard of before. My daughter got lost and called us. This was late at night and she turned on the wrong street and got lost. We immediately were able to download Streets and tell her where she was and where she needed to go. Thank heavens for cell phones and Streets 2005. I think this is the best one ever. We used Mapquest before we got Streets 2005 and this beats that site by far.I love how it tells us the streets that are being repaired and can send us around that area. Thank you for this wonderful CD.

Strengths: Good maps. Easy to use program.
Weaknesses: Almost the same as the 2003 version. Limited accommodations and restaurant listings. Some locations of "whats near by" are not accurate.
Summary: Not much chanced from the 2003 version. The GPS intergration is new. Lane arrows on some streets is new. Would like to see more restaurant and accommodations listed.

Strengths: affordable, gps tracking integration, comprehensive maps, easy to use
Weaknesses: no significan weaknesses
Summary: This is the BEST software that could possibly exist at this pricelevel. For $30 you get a comprehensive atlas of US on you computer and also on your PocketPC handheld. Also, in 2005 microsoft introduced GPS integration, so now I dont have to use separate programs for just browsing a map, and gps tracking.

Strengths: Price is resonable. I got a $10 rebate too. USB connection works great. Microsoft has solid updates.
Weaknesses: It has no speech output. It's a little too dangerous to be futzing with your computer and driving at the same time.
Summary: 2005-07-20 15:07:29 Streets and Trips is a great mapping program and handy on my laptop when I travel. I like traveling a lot, and I like to be able to print out maps of where I need to go the next day. I already have an NMEA 2.0-compliant GPS receiver, this software works with my receiver just OK, no problem so far. It occupies 1GB on my laptop. Overall, I can say this software is the best for this price. I recommend it.

Strengths: I found the interface to be more user friendly than Delomes street atlas 2005
Weaknesses: Print function seemed to be weak.
Summary: I purchased Streets and Trips after having problems with Delome's product Street Atlas 2005. The interface of Delomes was hard to understand. However Microsofts interface was much better. I found the interface easy to use and I located and planned trips easily. However printing directions seemed overly difficult. I would recommend this product over Street Atlas based on usability and price.
