Strengths: Contrast, quality, style, design
Weaknesses: none
Summary: I love this tv. I bought it as a surprise for my husband a few months ago. The 40" is perfect in our family room. It isn't slow to power up, has a really nice picture every time, enough inputs for our components. We are very satisfied with this purchase. Was comparing to the Toshiba and Samsung in this category and very glad went with Sony!

Strengths: Fantastic picture quality, good colors, lots of external inputs.
Weaknesses: A little too expensive
Summary: I bought this LCD TV for about $1200. There are lots of other LCD TVs with the same size for around $1000 these days. But I have no complaint with this item so far.

I compared it with other TVs in the local stores, its picture quality is the best. Also the sound is not bad, considering it is a TV, not a home theater system.

There are lots of external inputs, such as HDMI, Component, Video, S-Video, PC.

Overally, it is a really good TV, and worth the money.

Strengths: Color, Clarity, Contrast, Size, Price
Weaknesses: Only weakness was in my pocketbook - couldn't afford the 46" 1080 but no regrets with the 40S3000
Summary: I love this TV. It's my first flat screen - considered the 46" - 1080 but found the price of 40" 720 more to my budget. Salesperson stated for my first flat, I wouldn't notice the difference but surely notice the difference between this and standard TV I've been watching. The color is great - very clear picture. Had cableman hook it up but it was easy to follow as it is clearly marked on Tv. Hooked up DVD HD and PS - great color with graphics. Purchased the Sony Warrant through Sony - got longer coverage for less than Best Buy's Warranty.

I am a devoted Sony purchaser and find that this TV lives up to the Sony reputation for quality, clarity and great pictures and sound. Highly Recommend - liked it so much, took a day off just to watch TV.

Strengths: Great looks, no clouding, deep blacks, 10-bit display
Weaknesses: None found so far
Summary: I was deciding between this TV and the KDL40V2500. I'm glad I chose this one as I don't see much difference between the 2 even though V-series is 1080p. The colors on this TV are awesome and HD channels look great. This TV also does a great job in displaying SD channels and I have no problems at all watching them. I also bought an up-converting DVD player with it and the picture quality is just amazing at 720p. There is no clouding issue to report on my set. Sound is good and PQ is impressive. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to everyone who is not particularly looking for a 1080p set.

Strengths: Good picture even in a bright room Does well with low def programming
Weaknesses: none found so far
Summary: Great unit for those with the little alcove above a fireplace, which is where I'm using mine. It's not heavy so you can get it up on that shelf no problem. It has lots of inputs to hook all your equipment up. The extra ones on the left side of course are for video games, camcorders, etc. One nice thing I noticed is that there is an audio OUT which made hooking it to my very old preamp easy since the preamp didn't have a ton of inputs and I could make everything having to do with the TV just take up 1 input. I may break out the DVD player as separate but that will complete my wiring adventure... Since I watch 99% low definition I needed a set which did ok with that but didn't sacrifice 720p programming as well. This unit is successful in that mission. I have not tried over the air high def yet. Overall, I highly recommend this unit for anyone who does not need 1080p.

Strengths: Brand quality and design
Weaknesses: Expensive
Summary: I've owned several Sony products and continue to be impressed. Sony LCDs, including this one, tend to cost a little more than other LCDs but you're paying for quality, reputation, and piece of mind. The picture is great; expecially for watching football! The design is simple but classy. I have no regrets on this purchase.

Strengths: Sleek Design, Great Video Quality, Great Sound Quality, Decent connectivity options, Easy to use Remote.
Weaknesses: A bit pricey comparing with other 40"/42"
Summary: This is my most recent addition of Sony Electronic products in my house.

And again, Sony product does not fail me.

This 40" LCD TV delivers the Video Quality and Sound Quality that I expect from Sony Electronics.

It plays DVD/HD TV clearly and the sound is superb comparing to other LCD TV speakers. Standard TV quality is not the best but is above average.

I personnally like the design of the TV even though I prefer the glass and silver look of KDL40XBR2 more but hey you have to pay over $2000 for that (of course that also includes the extra quality that XBR series deliver).

Price wise, this LCD TV is more expensive than other 40"/42" but you are getting better quality in this TV.

Connectivity options are generous. 2 HDMI, 2 components, 1 VGA, 1 S-Video and more. More than enough for me.

Also the Remote is very easy to use. Very easy to navigate to day-to-day functions (like Pictures, Sounds...)

Conclusion, I love what I've bought. If KDL40S2010 is cheaper, I may go for that but since I'm getting the same price as of a KDL40S2010, I really prefer this newer model! Sony rocks again!

Strengths: easy setup, easy to use, very nice picture quality
Weaknesses: none
Summary: This is a very nice tv for the price! This was my first LCD tv and I wanted something with remarkable picture without breaking the bank. The setup was easy, just had to plug in the cable cord and power it on. The remote control makes it easy to program and adjust picture and sound. There was all the standard connectors on the back of the tv, along with inputs for sound and other devices including one for a PC input.

Like all Sony products, the picture quality is awesome! A very slick and beautiful tv!

1 Star Reviewnot at all happy
Strengths: it looks good
Weaknesses: it doesn't work
Summary: we bought a bravia 40s3000, had it delivered and it was a week before we took it from the box and plugged it in. Nothing else, just the tv and the antennea. It worked great for about 30 minutes. Programed the stations, language ect ect, no problems.

Then the lines started. Anywhere a bright object was in the screen, lines ran up n down the screen. Till finally everywhere a line was running, looking like a bar code on a package in a store...bright white lines. The the color faded into pinks and purples. All the objects in the tv were blurred. I was to upset.

I called the tech line, another overseas outsoursed job, and calmly I explained to her what the problem was and what I did to correct it. All in the manuel. So she had me do it all again. Still no clear picture. She then gave me a number in my area to call for a service man to come out to my house. The manual clearly states do not return to store where bought, maybe Sears knows something we don't.

I would not recommend this tv if asked and would interupt a conversation if I heard it ongoing to tell this story.

Hopefully it is a simple fix.....hopefully I did not spend 1 thousand dollars for a tv that worked for 30 minutes, no matter how great the picture was...

Strengths: Sony lives up to its product name - great picture, sound, features, and easy set up. The only thing I had difficulty finding, even in the manual, was where the power cord went in the back!
Weaknesses: Need a
Summary: This television is excellent. As always, Sony lives up to its brand reputation. The setup was easy, picture and features are great. I haven\'t set up HD yet as I have to upgrade my Tivo, so my picture isn\'t as great as it could be right now. However, this tv is the perfect size and is exactly what I was looking for.

Strengths: Picture quality, ease of use
Weaknesses: Cabinet design looks a tad dated
Summary: Have had this TV for about 2 months, and have no complaints. HD Picture quality is fantastic; SD picture quality is excellent - much better than the JVC set that this replaced. Rear TV connections are very accessible. I have it situated next to a window, and even on bright days, the TV does extremely well - can't do that with a plasma. The cabinet isn't very sleek like the new Sharp and Toshiba sets, this is just a plan matte black border and a large glossy square stand.

I know some of the newer sets have better technology, so I'll give this 4 stars rather than 5. However, for the price, this is certainly a 5 star set.

Strengths: looks good, great picture, nice blacks, ample connectivity options
Weaknesses: bit pricey compared to other brands
Summary: I was inclined towards the Sony but didn't wanted to break my pocket. Opted for this set

and I am happy. Great picture quality from a trusted brand. No issues found so far.

480i SD looks good. HD looks fantastic. As for analog channels, some look decent while others

not so. Maybe it depends on the quality of the signal too. Definitely worth the money.
