Strengths: Picture Quality...Sound Quality...Easy set-up a kid could do it!
Weaknesses: There are NONE !
Summary: My big sis girlfriend tricked me into buying a new flat screen tv on Black Friday. No, I was not in the market and the thought hadn't even crossed my mind. But she felt the 19" JVC CRT that I'd had for over 15 yrs and worked just fine, was toooooo small for my living room. I had just done some major renovations to the living room including paint and hardwood floors so the old small TV stuck out like a sore thumb. So first we went to Wally World and bought a 37" VIZIO that they had on special for $796. I wasn't enthusiastic about the purchase but was so caught up in the moment I said ok. On the way home, we passed Best Buy so I suggested we go in and look. Immediately this 32" Phillips jumped out at us. Why? It was on $599 and had a superb picture quality that strongly competed with models that were so much higher in price. I think the only display that out-shined the Phillips was Sony. But I wasn't willing to pay that much. So we got in line, bought a second TV that day, then turned around and returned the VIZIO back to WW. This TV is a pleasure to watch. I have a 52" big screen that I have abandoned because the picture on my new 32" Phillips is so unbelievable. The sound amazes me because I now hear sounds emit from shows that I've been watching for months that I never noticed before! It's like it picks up when a pin drops ! I couldn't be more pleased. For what I paid, I got a great deal more than I was getting from my old 19" CRT. I've been debating whether I need special cables to further enhance the picture, but I have found that with DirecTv, some channels are noticably broadcast in higher quality than others, so why bother?! If you want a high quality HDTV without a high cost, look no further

Strengths: Easy setup, 2 HDMI, constant "unsharp mask" sharpening.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I looked at a lot of LCD TVs side by side and even had the store associates switch the signal quality in the stores from HD to SD to see how the TV performs without HD reception. This one had the best color and responsiveness than the other brands. It has a very quick, constant unsharp mask like look to it; meaning that it seems to constantly upsample the sharpness and crispness much like what you'd see in a graphics program like Adobe Photoshop.

When compared to its sister Magnavox TV this one is much better. Great contrast and sharpness from corner to corner. And when playing a DVD in an upsampleing DVD player the shadow details don't seem to get lost.

Excellent product! Hats off to Philips on this one!
