Strengths: Solid PIONEER Quality, Great Value, Successful burns @ 12X (Under 7 Minutes!) Weaknesses: 2MB Buffer Summary: I have been a faithful Pioneer customer when it comes to DVD burners (I just sold my DVR-105)... They are great under heavy use and are solid performers... I've owned the DVR-108 for about 3 weeks now... and I am burning DVD's in under 7 minutes! Killer!!! The sleek black casing is great too... and great for all black systems... I have found Ridata 8X DVD-R's are the best for this drive... no errors! THUMBS UP! Weaknesses: No firmware updater for Mac OS. Summary: I installed DVR-108 in my PowerMac G4 Dual 867, and used Patchburn II for iApps burn supports. It works great with Toast 6.0.7 in OS 10.3.5. Easy to install on the my Dell Dimension 8300 PC. 100% working on Windows XP. Compare to other brand I will choose Pioneer. Dual layper are perfect current technology. Weaknesses: At this very time, I have not found any significant weakness. Summary: This is the very best when it comes to dual layer writing. You cannot go wrong with this DVD-RW. It burns most reliably and produces next to no erroneous discs with skipping and artifacts. It is probably your best choice for dual layer writing and writing overall, period, if you don't mind paying a little bit more for this over the NEC 3500. 50% of People (2/4) found this review helpful.
