Strengths: wireless rear speakers and subwoofer, optical digital audio cable
Weaknesses: Manual on cheap paper and very small print, directions for features not "orderly"-
Summary: Tower front speaker assembly easy- accomplished in less than 10 minutes. Pretty easy for a non-tech "older" person, set up most of systenm in less than 60 minutrs. But manual is very, very small print, directions for actual use of features not orderly. cheap paper manual was frayed within first hour. Had one problem understanding setup and panasonic tech was very helpful. For the money, I think it is really great. To me, the sound is terrific. Love the wireless rear speakers, wireless subwoofer and optical digital audio cable- those are the features I was waiting for. Purchased it on-line from Beach Audio. It was shipped from California on Monday and I had it by 1 Pm on Tuesday- but I live in Nevada, so quick trip!

3 Star ReviewThe speakers are pretty good. The DVD sucks
Strengths: Wireless surround speakers and sub work immediately. Good sound.
Weaknesses: DVD is not multi-zone - a very bad surprise. Furthermore it doesn't support DIVX. Too many confusing settings with an unclear explanation in the manual. No HDMI or Digital optic cables.
Summary: Wireless system is Radio waves based and not infra-red (like some sony models) so the back transceiver doesn't have to be in direct line with the system (you can actually hide it). Same applies for the subwoofer. The sound is pretty good. The subwoofer sound is profound, the way I like it.

The DVD supports only zone 1 so I cannot play all my non-north-American DVDs. Moreover, it doesn't support DIVX format - was that such a big effort to add this support ?!? I have to buy another DVD because of these shortcomings.

No Digital optical and HDMI cables - why not ?? this is what differentiates the 1050 from the 950, and Panasonic could easily add the digital optic cable to the package.

Assembling the system was pretty fast, notwithstanding that, as aforesaid, the setup takes some time due to vague settings.

I bought it for a very good price - 451 US$ which makes it a pretty good deal even without the DVD.

Strengths: great output opt aud in comp in and out hdmi in and out 1080i upscaling
Weaknesses: wireless surround speakers and sub may lose quality ( i havent noticed this however but an audiophile might)
Summary: I have a 42" philips LCD TV and a custom built PC as well as a Nintendo 64, Xbox, and PS2 that were all in need of serious "oomph" behind the gameplay. This system was flawlessly capable in connections, set-up, and delivery.

I have to say that i am partial to Panasonic because i am familiar with their products and functionality but this one delivered more than i expected. Formerly i was using an older surround 6.1 also from Panasonic but it lacked a method to accurately give sound from my PC to all 6.1 channels hence my need for the dig aud in port. I must say that the sound is most impressive and the system is forward compatible enough that i don't plan on changing a component of it for quite some time... overall i say i would highly recommend this product

Strengths: Very easy to set up, especially the rear wireless speakers. Sounds great, almost like being in a movie theater.
Weaknesses: Documentation could be a little better. Some features not explained very well.
Summary: The system was very easy to set up. It only took me about two hours total. Once set up, it was very easy to use. I especially like the way it syncs with my panasonic TV. The sound was incredible. Makes the walls shake. It really is the full theater experience.

Strengths: Crisp clean sound, wireless rear and sub, Ipod dock, HDMI and optical.
Weaknesses: Terrible manual, poor DVD player
Summary: I love everything about the 1050 except for two minor problems: First, the owners manual is worthless. What would have taken me 45 minutes took about three times that setting up the wireless, and getting the sound right. Second, the DVD player is also worthless. Unless I have bad HDMI and component cables my Xbox 360 puts out a much better picture. But, like I said, these are minor problems for me.

Even though some may say the back speakers and sub are not totally wireless, you really can't complain because you don't have to deal with the wires running across the room.

The sound is wonderful, with many options to choose from depending on what you are listening to. The optical is also great on my 360 for digital sound. Many different options to go through, AUX, XM, Optical, DVD/CD, Music player, option, FM/AM. The remote works and feels like a quality remote, and has all the options and modes. The tower speakers feel a little flimsy, but look great by the TV. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.
